aniwae on ur way back to sgpore u wil hav good news... d return path to sgp checkpoint is now via d "new" bridge...its shorter n direct... aqnd best of all its a quite a wide bike lane so no longer squeezing among cars in d winding old road

Or bolt on a 9V rechargeable battery into the helmet. You can also use it to power other things like a heads up display, helmet LED lights like Battlestar Galactica (hey, idea!!), etc lol.

 

In that respect someone on this forum has successfully hooked up a 9V (from Sim Lim, with some mods) to an IU, detached the IU and put it in the underseat compartment of I believe, a SuperFour.

 

One of my friends did it with a 12v battery (the type used to power lanterns) and it works. The thread was once in the Hands On section but was deleted when the mods did housekeeping.

it's for the convenience, not the worth it or not. it's useful for those who can claim for their ERP, keeps track :)

 

If I can claim ERP with my current job, it'll be good. No need to leave early every morning

WOw you are one brave dude... my turn to ask, hopefully phantom can make it as far too, probably have to stop at malacca for a day, pulau pinang for another day... :S

3 things, know your self, know your bike and prepare for the contingencies .

 

1. Know Yourself

 

How your fitness ? and how long can you sit on the saddle. that will determine your short break time to maintain 200% on road.and when to rest and sleep for the day. or how long can you maintain the cycle of break-rest-ride this will also dictate your fatigue so you may have to take longer rest.

 

2. Know your bike.

 

even KSR,SP and bicycle can do it, by knowing the limitation of your bike. the optimal cruising speed, the bike engine system , electrical/charging system, starting system, air intake system and tires/suspension maintances of the system and their status to ascertain the serviceability. The greater amount of knowledge you have and the practical application to rectify crucial faults in the event of breakdown is lifesaving.

 

3. Prepare for contingencies/emergency

 

There are many risk involve, the only method to reduce them is to Identify them then mitigate and then manage the risk.

 

ID those risk into two main component , risk against the rider and risk against the bike and who,what when whee why how to obtain help

 

Nothing beats doing some research on the net to source for all this information.

 

Last but not least is confidence and arrogance don't mistaken the both,confidence is deliberate , it's gain by true experience on how you handle the ride,self and emergency ,do it step by step and built it steadily don't be in a hurry and miss the enjoyment of life with G-d.
