Hi seniors I have finally gotten my class 2 ride. its a tdm900

 

By the way, I've been riding this bike for 2days now. Upon start up there is a periodic choking sound and the idling rpm from a strong start in the morning at 2k rpm slowly drops to 500...periodically through the ride engine will die off when i clutch in close throttle at the traffic light.

 

Anyone has any experience in this?

 

Any recommended mechanic you know that can solve the problem w/o costing me a bomb?

you can go to the TDM thread to know more you have to adjust the idling. or clean the fast idle. to about 1000 rpm

 

let your engine warm up for 15 Min before you adjust

thanks guyz, yup i did go there and i got valuable information. alot of hands on which i cannot do on my own no tools.

 

15mins! thats quite sometime to warm up the oven mord The bike is due for servicing in another 1000km. i'll clean the replace oe, put iridium sparks, oil filter too, then maybe use the OWS FI cleaner and engine flush...might want to ge Rewitec too...i think total damage shld be ~~$400....damn class 2.. but its worth la, i like the comfort, the power and the road presence.

To warm up the bike efficiently it may be preferable to ride slowly instead of sitting at idle. 15 mins stationary can cause overheating on certain parts of the engine due to lack of airflow. Although this vulnerability depends on make and model, a rolling warmup with gentle riding and low rpm has the benefit of loading the engine and circulating the oil.

yo bro nong time no see...his is a TDM by PBS is a good bike but DC have yet to catch the nuance of the creature yet. so he need to adjust the rpm higher to prevent stalling which should be done hot. untill he get use to the ride then adjust back.

 

but for TDM the expert should be Meng tong go see him for a peace of mind

Carb idling for old bikes could indicate problem with carb needle, dirty carb... remember spent a bomb on CBR400....

 

but ur tdm shd b FI , isnt it?

 

saw quite many in Athens

 

ya, i also dun encourage too long warmup ....

 

my faz i start go slow from 50C temperature...

don't kay kiang, it's in the TDM 900 owner manual.... 15min warm up pg 47 or 6-7 under period mainteance n minor repair

i suspect hor...those manuals are written for angmo weather... sub-zero condition..dats y they need 15 min warmup...

 

here in tropical country ...logically wont apply de..

 

anywae if warm up > xx mins, we wil b flouting d Sillypore law , u knw

MC is referring to the recommended temp needed to tune the idling speed; that is 15 mins ... which was recommended in the Yamama manual.

So no case for argument …

 

Anyway … for FI muz go to see "doctor" ... so now is to decide where to bring the TDM to

 

a) clinic

b) witch-doctor

c) hospital

d) Yamama official specialist

e) kopitiam engineering folks

The plan is ride to Yong Peng, breakfast then refuel

Then trunk road to Muar (coffee break), then trunk road to Malacca

(that road is dual carriageway al the way into Central Malacca).

Expect to Arrive Malacca around 1pm.

Then depart from Malacca around 4pm.

 

Gotta give this a miss this time. Have something on in the evening so it will be too rush for me.
