shorter route, more traffic light, have to stop more.

expressway, no stops, faster speed, almost constant rpm.

if shorter route is 10-15% shorter than expressway route, does it save more fuel? time is not in consideration here.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Most vehicles have a sweet spot for maximum fuel economy. For your average sedan car, it is about 80km/h. The longer you are at that speed in a comfortable rev, the more fuel efficient you are.

They have driven a Toyota Corolla up to KL and back on one full tank, the idea is to stay at 80km/h for as much of the journey as possible, no sudden acceleration, no sudden deceleration. The idea is that the vehicle wastes more petrol when you accelerate than when you are cruising.

I don't know where the sweet spot is for bikes, but I suspect that for non-sport bikes, it might be the same: about 70-80km/h at a comfortable rev.

for cls 2 sport bike take expressway better cos onces stop at traffic light temp reach 100 + during hot weather unbearable man

Do and die, don't ask why , and u will SURVIVE!

1 example:

many moons back,

On a DV 650, I did 320km till reserve, from home to U and work then home daily An avg of 60km a day, mainly on highways.

My beloved sis, 260km..... till reserve....

5 min to work and home... 10 km a day.... CBD riding

In reality,

The engine consumes petrol on a variable load par against RPM, Staying in a low gear 5k rpm, , wallops almost the same amount as the top gear 5k, in cruise load.

Following the primary ratio, a 5k 2nd gear probably does 60kmph and the top gear 110kmph.

Of cos, factors like load, gradient, the wind, blah blah play a part, but not significant on local roads.

Do a simple maths, and u had just lost half of the avg fuel efficiency, by city riding.

lesser the traffic light the better ur fuel consumption .. and gear 1 actually consume more petrol than gear 6 as gear 1 has more power and power = more petrol ..

I'd rather spend alittle more on fuel, take the longer, smoother route than to get stuck in heavy traffic and arrive sweaty and irritated.

really depends, expressway also can kenna jam, small road might be a better choice.

that's about 20% difference, adding different riding style, weight, etc, and 15% in road difference, consumption + - about same.
