Maintaining Leather Riding Jackets...

Hi people...

 

Want to know how u guys maintain ur leather riding jackets?... How to keep it clean?

buy leather cleaner lo. i think ikea actually sells them for their sofa. got one bottle for cleaning, one for rubbing into the leather to keep it supple. but nv dry them in the sun; caz the leather will harden and crack.

My bro advise me to use baby oil to lather on the leather.it will make ur condition ur leather to prevent it from cracking

How about getting odours off leather gloves? Been wearing mine day in day out for quite some time alrdy and it smells bad...

Leather glove is hard but you can try glare lemon plastic and leather condition. Worked well for me at least...

I was quoted $200+ for a one-piece suit. Novena Goldhill shops.

The lady said an ang moh warned them to be careful but in the end, he didn't have any problems with it. Credible or not, i dunno.

 

I must really go find one that does leather best liao...

yup i also want to know leather can sent for dry cleaning or not?... what abt normal water cleaning?...i want to clean all the dirty marks found on jacket...

tried silicon spray? its normally stated on the can that it can be used to mantain leather and upholstery.

 

maybe you can try that? its cheaper too. and a whole lot cheaper than leather care products.

Uh whoops, I missed out that $200 is the cost of getting a one-piece suit drycleaned and that the drycleaner shop that I liaised with is at Goldhill Centre.

I give it a skip....$200 I dry clean few times can buy new one lo...Then what is the point of dry cleaning when cleaning cost about 25% of the new items...Depending on suit....

U can use any kind of mild body lotion.

Im using NIVEA Bodymilk from Germany as "Schwabenleder" (http://www.schwabenleder.de) recommends that to maintain suits. I never had any problems, my suit is even after 4 Years still in an excellent condition!

What's good for living skin can only be good for dead skin as well

Reviving old thread, how do you prevent mildew/fungus growing ? After all, we sweat like nobody business in Sin weather. I am thinking of getting one dainese perforated leather for daily ride plus north. I m more concerned with maintenance as even my wallet and belt grow fungus when I leave it for a week. If too much of hassle then will stay with my cordura. Thanks

you wipe with water...fan to dry...rub down with leather care instruction..

 

a bottle of leather care cost about $13...i have no issue with all my leather with this..

 

never dry leather in the sun or wash in washing machine...the leather will be hard and then you will spend a lot of time with ter leather care to make it supple again..

 

if $200 for dry cleaning is no issue...no need to ask.

if you buy leather care from a furniture shop i know...selling 50ml for $50...that was 10 years ago...

Thank you Ezzyoiler. have you ever ridden with leather in Singapore traffic? esp during rush hour below 40 km/h? bearable? i am now wearing mesh cordura and sweat (manageable) during morning ride to office (20 minutes)

i dont wear jacket now..

tried once riding into jb in the evening...dont like it..uncomfortable.

get yourself dettol/lysol antiseptic spray. this will kill germs/odur....
