With all the protest going on, touristism industry will affected. Less tourists mean more hotel rooms will be available and in theory the price will drop.

 

So this group of riders going up will have more money to spend in phuket. Huray, I hope.

I think Racingter & the rest of the bikers shld have crossed Sadao border and otw to Hatyai now, or prolly reach Hatyai oredi.

I just came back from Ao Nang, Krabi.. Now back to Phuket.. Weather is a little choppy.. Rain and sun everywhere.. Hate that stretch from Trang to Krabi.. Road works will definitely take a toll on the bikes..

we're back! all alive and well. event packed trip! everything tt could haf gone wrong went wrong. crashed bike, leaking fuel tank, thunderstorm, flood..etc. but nonetheless it was a super fun trip! So far only 3 of us came back. Racingter stayed one more day, probably riding down as i type. and one more went to Genting.

Thanks to all the guys who rode up! See u guys again man!

well..thailand supposed to be in state of emergency, but we din see anything unusual. rather peaceful. we were caught in quite a number of thunderstorms so raincoat is a must. oh and bring bike tools like allen key, screw driver, and some putty. it came in handy when i had a hole on my fuel tank. leaked till it was dry. black tape is useful as well u'll never know when u will need it.

if u r leaving for chiangmai...i would suggest u to by pass bangkok....try not to stay there due to there's still some riots and protest going on....where else the rest of the country is still safe....if u really need to rest at near bangkok...i would suggest u to go a bit further up..to chattaburi..

Thanks for the info and advice, will probably bypass Bangkok and look up on chattaburi like you suggest. May i know if it very rainy days up in Phuket at the moment?

at the moment it's still rainy season...at times it's will flood at lower grounds...so make urself prepare in case it do rain...

actually we can just org a genting trip to corner lover (but must be careful rider too lah).

 

You see, genting is a loop of corners (up hill and down hill and hair pin)

 

so, the trip plan could be:

 

1. reach kl toll -> stop for breakfast at Mac.

2. reach genting -> deposit your bags to the hotel (cos not check in time yet)

3. go down and up genting road again for 2 loop (without your bag is good).

4. on the way, visit the few tourist point and temple.

5. go back genting for lunch at 1.30pm (maybe at first world hotel cafe or etc)

6. at about 3pm, arrange for check in.

7. take a shower or etc. then free and easy (own time own target).

7a. suggestion = movie, game, theme park, bowling, karaoke, gambling, etc

8. meet for dinner. suggestion is steam boat buffer.

 

this is a good 2d1n - corner lover and gambler - riding trip plan. the room is not ex too if we could visit at low season (sun to thu). the shoulder season is fri and peak is sat.
