Bro our top is 95km/hr Average therefore maintaining it at 95km/hr is normal. I often maintained at 100km/hr along ECP when i was working at Alexandra all the way frm Bedok and there was no issues with it.

lol.. sg express ride skipper's top also got alot of free space.

I just maintain my lobo skipper's top 95km/hr for about 10mins then it show sign liao...telling me he want to go attend C.

Hopefully after this pistol/block affair, there shouldnt be anymore issue. 2t pump b4 me also just change only. Still got what common problem? Electric starter? hmm... belt i think still okie..

Just curious, what is malossi u guys discussing about?

It's called Piston btw...piston jam...maybe due to 2T belt spoil...cos if 2T doesn't feed into carb...then piston might jam cos too hot..and I recommend change normal set of original Skipper piston....those malossi watever let you die faster...no offence dudes..

So was it to say that my 2T mixture was too little, thus travelling abit of its tough speed and leads to piston jam??

Actually, going 95km/hr should not jam one even going for 10mins non stop... but if 2T belt spoil and 2T is not fed into the carb with petrol...then piston will overheat and melt to cause jamming lor... very dangerous... :giddy:

So when you change belt and rollers..always get mech to check 2T belt also

Luckily our bro here still managed to stay alive :sian:

Hi, normally after i change a 2nd hand pistol, how much should i travel? And for how long (mileage?)

To my, i felt that da skipper can't tahan long distance riding. Eg. 35km per ride. Is there a temp gauge for skipper? I mean, after riding long distance, will skipper become very hot and melt some of the components near da engine case?

Anyone's skipper were used to travel at least 30km per ride?? Care to share ur experience?

Thanks!

Hello ,

I'm not sure how long u should travel after changing to a 2nd hand "Pistol" (tought its for shooting :cheeky: ) But on a serious note, its best to "Run in" the piston for around 300km before u go full throttle. This is to make the piston at ease with the engine parts. With regards to long distance travel, i have yet to try it. At most, i only travelled for 30km mak as stated earlier. Take note that there is no trip meter at the bike hence it makes calculating a bit difficult. One last thing, the skipper is forced air cooled hence there is no way to cool it except for riding the bike fast  And i don't think its going to melt the bike parts as mine is still fine even after i rode the bike for 5 yrs now.

erm... if bor bian... and need to get a new set of piston and block... i will try malossi liao~~ :p not joking... i guess the price diff just 1 to 2 hundred more and u can win a IPPT gold Gixxer anytime!! :p  :cheeky:

on the surface the price is only 100-200 different but below the surface ther is a huge price to pay for wanting speed..

I c dat most skipper riders want a problem free n lasting ride..of coz ther might be a few special 1s who wish for a fast n furious skipper...on this note I will suggest if u to replace anything it will hav to be orginal parts or certain aftmkts parts...Aftmkt parts like Malossi or Polini or watever r built for race n it tends to wear out even faster..

Especially on small scoot like ours, every single wear n tear parts will affect alot on the overall performace n ther is not a need to say as most skippers r pass the age of 10...serious reconditioning is require b4 proceeding to furthur performace mods..

Any performace products added in b4 reconditioning will not work at itz best and most situations it will only speed up the wear and tear of other related parts making ur ride more problematic...

I will not suggest u using a Malossi block kit unless u personally know the condition or ur skipper very well if it can take the extra omphs b4 having to end up wif a splitted skipper aft a few months :goodluck:

WhiteOryx: Thanks for replying. After 300km have to change EO and plugs right? Hmm was told by mech not to wack da throttle only, but he didnt tell me whether i could travel 80km/hr anot. These days while riding on within 3 towns, i was travelling abt 60km/hr or abit more on small road. Recently i went to orchard from bedok, due to following big bikes frens, i tend to push my bike to 80km/hr on expressway. Then i heard something scary. The bike's sound abit lushy, sound more like a faulty plug, but its sound was also familiar (ITS DA SOUND BEFORE THE NIGHT I PISTOL JAM!!!!). I been toping up 2 full tanks already, its been over 300km clocked. I wonder issit becoz of da plug was wet due to da large intake of 2T after overhaul piston. hmmm...

spy622: haha :thumb: . I agreed that the skipper was just for leisure riding. Not go participating street race. Its a old machine, almost R.O.D already.

These days, i duno why, riding my skipper, somehow i realised many p plater tend to take my poor skipper for 1st lesson of road lacing. I don't issit my loud pipe/ engine sound drew their attention and temptation. I mean i know i was riding a skipper, i was just out of any form of challenge thus i rode it gentlely. Just that whenever i throttle the bike, the sound was just so loud and bassy. Any of you came across this frequently?

ther is no engine oil for skipper...it juz hav gear oil which no need to change within such a short interval...

juz make sure the carb is clean, properly tune, air filter in place, engine is in gd condition meaning block n piston n crank, transmission properly clean wif rollers, u-clips and belt not badly worn will be gd enuff..

Juz in case of not knowing if the 2T is still functioning well juz go premix...

the skipper is a tough bike..juz like the rxks

n toking abt p-platers taking the skipper as a 1st challenge of road lacing, I used to do it last time as well...Im so shock on how much the old skipper was ahead of me during the launch..only till the mid revs of my stock nsr I managed to catch up n overtake

Every1 had been ther done dat so at this stage we juz hav to show the young 1s once in awhile wat is call skills n wat is call a fast bike

I had my fair share of fun wif p-platers challenging me on my auto scoot wif traffic lite drags or at specific routes and corners...Managed to leave some pretty amazed by wat an auto scoot can do while some also left me pretty amazed as well usually by their big "ball" kits n REALLY soup up strokers wif a p-plate hanging
