anybody knows what could be wrong?

Once i kena.. One morning turned the ignition and tried to auto start.. Totally no sound.. Sent to mototiam.. They checked and they told me wiring got problem.. Changed the wiring for $30 plus $20 towing fee.. So i guess it could be wiring problem.. Or it could be your battery is flat liao.. By the way, thinking of selling my skipper.. Any takers?? Selling at $700. No bargaining cos i replaced lots of parts..

i was also trying to sell my skipper. lucky kena this problem before selling

Yup.. Towing $20.. I also changed the battery.. Costs me $45.. Ask first what's their towing fee.. Shouldn't cost more than that..

thought problem solved after charging the battery and changing spark plug. but after 2 runs, couldnt start again. now going to get a new battery and try. anybody knows where i can buy a battery (12N9) in the west at a good price? preferably near jurong west. called up a shop at lakeside just now and they quoted me $60.

problem turns out not to be the battery but -> incompetent user

but really got to thank ES cycles for patiently guiding me through the phone. the boss really generously shares his knowledge. :thumb:

So how you solve the problem  Mind to share it out

i am just a noob rider who doesnt know much abt his skipper. sorry if the following sounds so basic

what i learnt is that

skipper no light, no sound when trying to start

-> check fuse

try kick start, if cannot

-> check spark plug and supressor(dont know if this is the correct term, the part connecting to the spark plug).

1) check if any part is loose or broken. if the supressor is broken, you can connect the tube directly to the spark plug and ride to the nearest bike shop and get a new one.

2) disconnect and let the metals touch. sorry, dont know how to describe. kick start and see if there's spark.

if everything ok, should have no problem kick starting.

cannot press start

-> maybe battery totally flat, if after charging can only work for a few rounds, probably battery spoilt

-> if change new battery still cannot, maybe regulator or magnetic coil(correct term?) spoilt.

Went Phuket for 3 days. Came back and tried to start my skipper. Cranked until battery died on me. Kick started and finally got the engine going. Went for a ride for 20 minutes to recharge the battery. Sigh.. My skipper always has problem starting when it is cold. But when it's warmed up, no problem. A bit of cranking and it's ready to go. Any kind soul can advise what's wrong with it? Magnetic coil problem, spark plug problem, rectifier problem???

Possibly. Change your battery, or invest in a trickle charger and charge your battery during the week. You can buy one for only $28 at Sim Lim Towers.

you can buy the battery from LAB. $30 for a maintenance free one, I think.

The shop selling the trickle charger is at the basement of SLT. It sells lots of batteries - quite hard to miss.

LAB is at Kelantan Lane. Turn left after Jalan Berseh Food Centre along Jalan Besar. Then turn right again at the first turning. LAB should be exactly opp the coffee shop. The ower is the one with the sexy voice.

OLD NO GO, NEW NO COME.
