Clutch Plates Burn / Wear

hi, wats the difference between worn clutch plates & Burnt clutch plates.

 

wat are the sign n symptoms ??

i read thru some of the clutch issues thread and found out that actually can file of the damaged material of the clutch plates and still use.

 

Need some experts to enlighten as the clutch mechanise consist of the clutch plates, clutch springs, clutch housing and clutch cable

 

wat is meant by clutch slip? How to check the cable ? No tension on the cable ? Bike roll forward engaging 1st gear without throttle

 

Wat can cause burnt clutch plates ???? so filing off the burnt layers can continue to use ????

 

It could also be due to engine oil issue ??? hmmmmmmmm

 

Freeplay of clutch can be adjusted near the clutch lever which affects the biting point of the bike. wat about the 2 screws at the other end of the clutch cable, usually near the engine oil ???

and also how long for the job of changing clutch plates ????

clutch slip meaning when u ride gear drop by itself and ur bike rpm suddenly goes up and make ur balls go up throat..try adjust the bitting point sometimes its maybe too near be4 u think is clutch plate problem...

cable loose also will affect no more tension due to some snap cable change a cable will help u though..

Currently, my S4 has this problem. When i high rev (7-8rpm) in 1st gear, the gear change from gear 1 to 2 will not be smooth.

 

The gear will move into neutral gear and there will be some vibration of the gear and 'tak tak tak' sound couple with some resistance before the gear goes to gear 2.

 

Gear change from 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6 as well as gear change from 1-2 in low rev do not have the above-mentioned problem.

 

Is the above-mentioned problem due to clutch plate?

During my S4 days i dunt have the tak tak sound...coz when i accelerate hard on 1st gear i quickly clutch in and shift to 2nd...Only when i accelerate hard and clutch in slowly and shift to 2nd gear then i will get the tak tak sound..

 

Clutch burn happens due to a few causes

 

1:Improper clutch freeplay(Clutch not gripping 100%)

2:Inadequate lubrication(Neglect oil change or low oil level)

3:Worned out clutch disc or plates causing clutch slip thus increasing oil temperature.

 

Normally on bikes the clutch disc(fibre) is changed and if the plates are not scorred,worned(still in recommended thickness)or burned badly,it can be used back.

Sometimes you dun clutch in fully to shift gear, depends on the alignment of the cable too. Like you clutch ard 95% of the lever.
