street legal exhaust is suppose to be used on road with the baffle on, so sound emitted would not exceed the allowed decibels. so taking it off is as good as having an illegal exhaust on your bike. summon will be the same. if you dun believe, one day we arrange for u to ride your bike with street legal exhaust but baffle removed. then call TP/LTA to report your bike number. see how much will the fine be? :D

i heard last time diesel less than $1/litre. now over the $2/litre mark already.

As long as you tampered with the Street Legal Exhaust, it'll be Street Illegal Exhaust. :cheeky:

You need the Muffler to be part of the Exhaust that makes it Legal. To keep it simple, refer to the attached link.

Note: Removing catalytic converters and mufflers are not allowed as it will adversely affect the exhaust emission characteristics of the vehicle.

yes .. instead of getting a street legal and temper with it.

buying a illegal one will be cheaper and save the trouble of inspection

OK, how about this, I ride around on my XR400 without muffler. Then I pass TP who park his bike on the side and stand on overhead bridge to check vehicles crossing double white line. Can he summon me by just write down plate no? Happened 1 month ago and so far no news so think should be fine.

if never stop u then quite unlikely they can fine u for illegal mods.

at most they can jolt down yr number plate and request u turn up for vehicle inspection at authorised centre.

means u r safe.

frm the looks of it, u dont seem too confident or brave enough to use illegal exhaust.

maybe can consider fixing back the muffler for peace of mind?
