Hi guys! chanced upon this forum through google search vjf125...do u guys find it very hard to keep up during outing with frenzs with bigger bikes like super 4 etc etc

I've been joining makan trips to Johor with kakis riding Busa, Fazer 1000, BMW 1100S, Super4s and etc and I can keep up with them. This applies to riding in city traffic conditions and moving off from traffic lights as well as riding on the NS highway. Of course when the bigger bikes decide to play and ride beyond the "reasonable speed limits" of 120km/h, you will get left behind.

 

For a big sized bike with only 125cc engine, the RWr is adequately powered. It all boils down to whether your bike engine is well taken care of and whether you know how to use the bike's power curve.

1st gear and 2nd gear can't go too fast. If really need to push, 1st gear change at 7500-8000rpm, 2nd gear at 9000rpm. 3rd gear can take you to 90km/h by 8500rpm already. You would be ahead of most cars and taxis already. At that rate, should be able to keep up with Super4s, provided they don't open throttle too much.

hmm...bro your bike all stock parts? I alwayz up gear after 8 - 9 rpm (the engine like crying liao haha)...3rd gear I have never hit 90 before(70+++)...my parts all stock de

GOSH! SOS! Cannot be! Any bike given that style of riding would hit 90 atleast.

RWR is powerful at gear 2.

3 onwards would be torque and 5 (is there a 6?).. the last gear is for cruising, not much of a diff if wanna rev.

Technically speaking, I suspect you prob have a issue with your torque, sprocket, engine might got damage somehow or your bike kana accident before.

how steep is the slope? even for me, i will lose speed de...

Everything stock except K&N air filter + 42teeth rear sprocket. Even when I was running stock 45teeth rear sprocket, the speed was only slightly faster.

 

The not-so-secret weapon I always use is Shell V-Power

i realize when my bike go up slope.. it will drop speed like mad sia.. from 70 can drop til 40.. but i see all the other bikes still can go very fast on slope sia..

Bike dropping speed on up slope is normal. Just down gear and go.

As you are still running in the bike, just relax lah. Shift gear down but don't over-rev engine to go upslope. Doesn't matter what other bikes are doing at this stage, bro.

BTW...ytd i accidentally beat red light...i saw amber liao...but behind me got lorry...i dunno whether safe to stop...so decided to juz cross...and i saw a very bright flash...i immediately stop and turn to my left...to my horror there was a camera there!

will i kena summon since i stop and never cross over the other side???(i somewhere cross center of T junction liao...stop at left most..nv block traffic)

gravity, any moving object going up a slope will eventually lose speed, unless you inc the force/power moving it.

Engine under-powered? Cannot be right? Cause I know another bike with displacement 124.9 CC, weighing 165kg manage to go up slope fast.

Not like as if what you guys said la.. 60 - 75 range

hmm... you sound like one particular RWr ex-rider who used to complain about "bike no power..." + "don't like car-taxi-whatever tailgate me" etc. etc.

It is not so much that "cars all can go fast or other bikers also faster. It is more because YOU have yet to learn how to go fast.

 

Give yourself some time and like I said before, you are running in your bike, so relax with your ride.

do u know anything about torque curve or power band? if not, pls google and do some research so you understand how a combustion engine behaves under load. why do they build bikes with gears? why not just use one gear?

 

when your bike slows down while going up slope, did you drop a gear before twisting the throttle? those bikes that are of the same capacity as yours but going faster than you are are doing just that. most cars on SG roads are auto cars as well. that means when the car is going up slope and driver maintains throttle position, car will automatically downshift. that is why the cars are going faster.
