BMW R1200C?

 

Nice bike. Like all other BMW Roadsters, if well taken care of will last forever. I still see R100s running around.

I chanced upon a R1200C, white, impressive outlook, just want to know about the servicing and parts available and cost.

well..BMW regular servicing are not really that expensive. Less than $200 if you do it outside PML. The real headache (and maybe heartache) comes when its time to repair it. The parts are quite expensive partly they are traded on euros and the fact that its a BMW speaks for itself. Parts availability depends...there was even once where i need to wait a week for a brake pad. BUt usually the regular wear and tear parts are available.

 

But not to worry cos BMW Germany keeps all the parts from what i understand. So its all about waiting and $$$.

I have seen a few of these running around while driving.

 

They look to be in generally good condition from inside my car.

 

 

I think it's quite a worthwhile bike to keep for long . however, just consider the trouble / cost of maintenance....not instantly available parts.

Last saw this cream R1200C at Kallang Cycle few weeks back. Quoted $8K by the shop owner. Maybe someone has bought it already. Not there anymore.

generally a sound machine.

the usual things that may go wrong, generally due to negligence with BM's will be the clutch, drive shaft and ABS, wear and tear - stater motor, fuel pump & hal-sensor.

engines if maintained well go on forever.....

parts wise, i can't be bothered with PML these days as they have changed some policy on parts if u buy and fix yrself. so i just order from plenty of sources overseas.

running costs are comparable to jap machines bar those big ticket items listed above which will also costs a bomb for japs as well.

i know of 3 lovely examples, 1 of which i do get to ride from time to time. handling is good for a cruiser, doesn't pull as hard as other european cruisers but effortless to ride.

buy the best example u can get your hands on.
