Engine break-in

There is never a more important period in the life of your engine than the period between 0 and 1600 km (1000 mi). For this reason, you should read the following material carefully.

Since the engine is brand new, do not put an excessive load on it for the first 1600 km (1000 mi). The various parts in the engine wear and polish themselves to the correct operating clearances.

During this period, prolonged full-throttle operation or any condition that might result in engine overheating must be avoided. EAU17091

 

0–1000 km (0–600 mi)

Avoid prolonged operation above 7000 r/min.

 

1000–1600 km (600–1000 mi)

Avoid prolonged operation above 8400 r/min.

7k rpm/min is about 120km/h or 130km/h if I'm not wrong. Anyway, as long as you follow the manual, that is avoiding prolong operation above the indicated range of rpm, you are safe.

getting pretty sian after riding for 3 whole weeks below 80km/hr. all the stupid cars, ferraris to cherryQQs, bikes, ducatis to MY's kups, lorries, cement mixers to bulldozers, all FASTER than me! hahaha! :clap:

maybe a caterpillar also faster than me... hahahaha!

The mechanic is those trained one or those ah pek type who always service RXK one?

Since you've been doing city riding since day 1 for 800 over km, I think it's time to get your passport and do the remaining run in at nshw from rpm range of 7k to 8.4k!!! :D

I think usually that's what a typical mechanic would advise for any new bikes run in. :D

You can't baby the bike all the time right? They're meant to be ridden hard and thrashed!
