I've ridden a Y125Z since last October.

 

Bought the bike for $2k (not including insurance) second hand. It was 2 years old then and "rarely used" with a mileage of 7000km when I inherited it.

 

Observations so far on the vehicle's performance:

 

- Very good acceleration, and just about unstoppable if you launch it at first gear over 5000 RPM. I've kept up with large and powerful sportbikes up to third gear before their superior performance lets them "fly" off. Not sure about other riders' skill but I find my bike more than satisfactory acceleration wise if it can do that.

 

All my informal "drags" are from traffic light stops and my "game" is to go from 0-90 in the shortest time possible.

 

- 125Z is lovely on the right lanes on the expressways, as said several pages before it can go up to 150-160 almost naturally. I don't dare push it further because the thing is so light but no stability problems. It doesn't like climbing hills so kick down to 4th or 5th gear to power over the incline then shoot down in 6th gear.

 

I always let someone else do the speeding and draft behind them. Fun. The bike's acceleration also lets it cut into lanes and overtake very easily - just think ahead of people, kick down 2 gears, open up and outaccelerate them. I've encountered more than my share of "mad" drivers during peak hours.

 

That's all on the 125Z - I'm interested in future performance mods but I'm upgrading to a Honda Nighthawk (250cc) soon.
