buying bike without license

hello. i need help in this case. i am waiting for tp on the end of oct. but can i buy a bike now ? as i want to start riding after i get my license. i do not want to wait so long to get a bike. is it possible ?

bro, just search through forum, i have seem similar thread at least 4 times for the pass 2 month. lol.

if u buy 2nd hand from some one, just do owner ship transfer and bike lay up at lta. After u got ur license, proceed with motorcycle insurance and bike inspection and u are ready to go.

 

shop wise im not sure. maybe just drop deposit?

go LTA to transfer to yr name. lay up bike,

buy season parking.

 

 

pass yr license, get insurance done.

 

go lta to unlay bike. need to have inspection cert and yr insurance.

 

careful about the inspection part, tow it to VICOM if u must, otherwise u will get yr license revoked plus a fine

another way is to buy an insurance for the bike you want. the insurance must be stated that you're NOT RIDING, and you must have a sub rider added to the insurance policy. the premium will be based on your sub rider.

aiyo.. wait till you get license la.. one shot get shop do for you... if got money to throw then you can tow your bike to and fro whilst still without license.. else, have to add sub rider, ask sub rider ride while you waiting for TP... a bit of a hassle la... and why the rush? Dun rush la.. slowly... too much excitement can lead to misjudgement and that can lead to something that cost more $$...

Haha.. wait till you get license lar... save up the money first.. try not to get from shop.. they will see u as carrot head...

Buying online just wait awhile to get a bike ba.... and tranfering and insurance takes u about 4 hours MAX. so why not? bike got plenty lar.. we've go Sp going for 2K nice nice one... KRR also... u wan wave also have... scrambler also have.. just look see look see la.. u still have time ma.

true la. V mafan if u wanna DIY. Gotta make insurance.. go to xin ming... then got to go and collect bike.... travel here and there rush here and there etc etc.. lol

 

 

But if you buy from shop... lol.. they quoted me Fw plate honda wave r for 3.1K..

Get license first then buy bike. Like Reese said, might have better deal. I bought my S4 before i got my 2A using the Owner (Not Riding) thing and made my friend a sub-rider. Guess wad... fail TP. Wait another 2 months. Waste money on insurance liao. Sommore you will be tempted to ride the bike if you have it parked at your house in the event that you buy it before you pass. So yeah, buy after u pass TP, maybe better deals and will not waste money on insurance and will not be tempted.

you should have just laid up the bike then no need to waste money on insurance lor.. just pay for season parking.. or better still, if you know any1 that owns private property just lay up there.. no need to pay anything..

Hmm i never go and ask about lay up ... cos i heard if still under installments, which my bike is, then the shop dun let u lay up... hmm... well... IMHO, can buy first if the bike is reeeeellly cheap or something like that....

Got $$$ do wat also can.......but why waste tis type of $$$...is it tat u saw a bike tat u practically fall in love with...my advice is dont rush over it...bikes come n go very fast, soon u will surely see something even better, then u will start saying "why i so kan cheong" so pass ur tp first....trust me....

your bike under installment can put at the bikeshop first mah before you got your license last time mah..

 

to ts, IMHO as well think twice, thrice, 4 times.. consult pple around you, if really want to buy it.. then go ahead..

 

apart from the bike cost, let me roughly break down the additional costs;

lay up paperwork- $5

season parking - $xx depends on how long you park there lah.. give and take lets say $40

tow bike for inspection - $25 (REMEMBER: when you buy, ask the seller to ride to the place of lay up first) if not, + another $25 to tow bike to lay up location.

 

lay up at hdb for 2 months: $70-$95

private property: $25-$50

 

hope this helps ts or any1 in the same dilemma to make a more well informed decision.

from the day u pass TP till u get a bike... how long can it be?

i waited 7 yrs to retake my bike license b4 i get to ride again

sometimes the more u rush... the longer it will take u to reach ur destination

take it slow & easy... pass liao slowly search for a bike

rushing into any good deal most likely will turn out otherwise
