truth is, it's for fun. i try hard to justify such a risky mode of transport (traffic jam etc.) but ultimately, it's not even a moot point. i was born to loving parents who have tried to stop my undertaking by dangling a nicer car in front of me .. thankfully, they love me enough to stop their threats at "if you get a bike, you won't get to drive our cars anymore".

riding puts a big smile on my face. which is why i'm fine with failing my pracs. this may not sound like a big deal, but i've always been an overachiever - i set my sights on a target, and i hit it. missing it is akin driving into a wall. but with riding .. sure i get frustrated, but i still have fun. there's this unexplainable sense of freedom, which is definitely not understandable to those who have never experienced the feeling of controlling a bike .. not to get all melodramatic, but there's also an inherent thrill in dancing with death, and hoping that you live to dance again by controlling every step.

edit: i hope nobody construes my post as being arrogant. because it lacks personal interaction, an internet conversation is ripe for misunderstanding. see my posts in the thread re the deaf/mute russian biker, and how quickly it turned to sh it.

good luck to you both !

remember make PDL. haha

anyway heyjezza, before you go out on the road, instructor will brief you. really2 brief one. thoroughly. its okay, just ask, as long as it makes you understand better. when i went for prac 6, there was this girl who asks all sorts of questions that you should know when you go for prac 2. but in the end she still got herself confused.

so yeaa. arm yourself with a jacket if you cant stand cold winds. hehes

i scared clarify = immediate fail .. u know .. instructors probably thinking, "wtf, prac6 still dunno how to line up? .. better fail u for good measure"

haha, no worries man. i always clarify. Thats how i make sure i dunt make stupid mistakes when they are assessing you on the road. i think secretly, the instructors favor those who ask qsts and leanr from mistakes. but thats just me dude.

wa pdl $25!?

time to scrimp and save again.

jezza what time is your pract 6 tomorrow?

i think in a way riding is much harder to pass than driving. They wanna really make sure (touch wood) nothing happens to us once we pass. As compared to the safety of the car.

knucklehead changed his signature for Earthday? (Apr22) lol.

Congrats on L6. L7 is all about knowing the circuit, checking blind spots and positioning your bike. Of course, successfully making that U-turn (without beating lights, causing a (near) accident or having your foot down while making turn will be important).

Study your road map properly - you need to know it by heart especially if you are the first bike. There are indications on the map where to position your bike (LRL or RLR) at certain areas (eg. before yellow box, at junction, etc). Checking blind spots is super important (checking the wrong way is also going to cost you points). L6 and L7 are "do-able" in 1 go. It also depends who the hell is taking you round...some look for confidence and proficiency and insist you go for road reviews before L8 and pass you. There are of course the others who seem to be against the world....
