This is the official solution to the question.

 

1 big balloon = 45cm

1 small balloon = 24cm

 

When both strings are 360cm

there are 8 big 15 small, therefore ratio of big to small balloons = 8.15

 

15 - 8 = 7

105/7 = 15

 

Total no of balloons = 15*8 + 15*15

= 120 + 225

= 345 balloons.

 

You were only given 2 mins to complete the question as by PSLE standard and that's off paper 1..

Haiz.. The roads are filled with self-centred dumbarse drivers these days.. Even short trips around the vicinity of my area, there were a few near miss incidents that happened not only to me, but witnessed few others as well. Damn disappointed in Singaporean's attitude on the roads.
