Hi Guys,

Just read on the net regarding this bike, i naively thought that gilera is the best selling bike in Italy but boy i was wrong. It was this bike which beats all the other scooters. The design damm not nice or most probably look like GTS but from all the reviews and comments plus the sales of this bike it is something to ponder about.

Runners are hard to wipe off the number 1 spot here...especially with SH300.

In my humble opinion, large tread scooters never made it in Singapore. We have so many dreaded examples here....

Scarabeo

Sportcity

Liberty

and all the taiwanese big wheels...

and also...Beverly...darn, i actually felt abit regretted bringing this model in :nono:

but then again the cruiser is coming...shipment is on the way...

Nothing is wrong with these scooters but somehow local context associated these large tread scooters with the elderly :p

You got bring in Beverly meh?

its coming soon, the 400cc cruiser. Sadly, its my decision.

Skeptical i felt, but i have seen the scooter in the flesh, impressed me as a tourer. Hope the turnout could be surprising.

Not worried about the price but rather more worried about the "large tires curse"

What is the 'cruiser'??

Uncle Brembo. I think the local market needs a 2B x9 like replacement

After X9 become 250cc only model. There doesn't seems to have a model to replace that.

1st, to explain why they stopped 200cc variants on various models.

2 reasons...

1. Singapore is the only country which requires a stupid 200cc and below license category, and as the puny island and limited market size we are, Italy are hesitant to continue a special production line for 200cc models.

ie. They would rather concentrate selling 125s and 150s in the US then doing a project on 200cc which has more chances to incur loss.

2. 200cc leader engine eventually could not pass Euro 4 emission. That derive Italy to go figure out 250 and 400 in fuel injection. Eventually as the Euro emission get stricter...125cc and 150cc FI engines are in the pipeline too.

hehe Comet bro, i realised the missing link since day-1 they decided to stop production of the Vespa GT200 and the X8 200. We have been urging italy to start a production line of either an X7 200cc or a Mp3 200. But the production numbers we promised them did not justified for even a profit after deducting cost of production. Unless we promised them 300 units or more PER MODEL a year (which is demographically not possible)....otherwise, do not wait for a 200cc from piaggio.

The next question that comes to mind is....then why the runner still have 200cc? Simple. becus we reached the figures that justify. Runner 200 has been the top selling scooter, regardless of make and model, over the pass 5 years at least. The previous winner was the Skipper.

But......personally i am concerned about the Runner. Cus production and evolution of this model has spanned over a decade liao. Its running a little long for a scooter model. so...if suddenly Italy decided one day, "hey tat's it! We stop the Runner"....that could be the end of the 200cc scooter era.

if you noticed....Japanese do not even bother to serve our market with 200cc models...taiwanese has some models but sad to say, none is truly to the exact 199cc and more often they are under-powered...

so Runner owners, better keep your runner and keep them in good condition...it could be the next comodity like a Vespa GT200 ;)

And the worst part is even if all the biker in SG protest to review the class 2 license. don't think the government will even budge

Posted

just imagine singapore goverment review class 2B and up its max CC to 250cc, all hell will break loose. can't imagine seeing a Aprilia 250 or PGM 4 wearing a P plate racing down our streets.

that is the main reason of why the govt is hesitating to raise the 50cc.

I felt the better way was to use power instead of cc. In some european countries, the basic license is 25kw and below.

To give some idea of how powerful (or not) a 25kw is...

here are some 250cc in KW.

Adiva 250cc - 15.7kw

Piaggio X9 250 Evo - 20.7kw

Nexus 300 - 16.4kw

Honda SH 300 - 9.5kw (only?)

Honda Forza - 15.7kw

Atlantic 400 - 24.5kw

Cagiva Mito - 6.6kw

while those slightly above 25kw which are not classified in the basic license

Aprilia RS250 - 51.1Kw (So powDERful!!!)

Kawasaki Zx 250 - 27 kw

Silverwing 400 - 26.4kw
