if any of you experience a blackout from your headlights after turning on the engine....do check your starter switch to see if it's stuck or not fully extended out.

had a blackout last Saturday night and spent nearly 2 hours trying to figure out what's wrong with so much plugging and unplugging, sweat, frustration and dirty hands only to find out my starter switch is not fully extended out. just a bit of touch of the starter switch and lights came on...

 

lesson learn.tq bro.

Hi all,

 

Bike went into a "pothole" and fork clamp broke. Rim is not damaged. My bike is under warranty.

 

Seeking everyone's advices, can this be replaced under warranty? Other damages were due to the fall.

hope his bike could be claimed under warranty.. Papa should write a mail and send it to the dealer, and CC to BMW agents worldwide, post it on BMW forum. Maybe they could get u some extra "bonus"...

hi papabread, heard u just got a substitute tourer already. This shows the spirit of touring is in ur blood already. so u still joining for this trip?? neway, there are some sightings at ECP earlier todae. Now u can see 'yellow paper' everywhere. Bro navigator, becareful when u go there to do ur secret training. Cheers...

Yeah, substitute tourer akin to Lorenzo Lamas. i'll probably hit the Texas desert soon. Should be joining, provided i be lead bike and the rest follow at the back.

 

Damn... hate these sightings. It seems like it has gone overboard all these secret trainings.

2. Engine guards.

5. Remus exhaust.

7. Vstrom renthal bars

 

8. K&N filter. Only 2 weeks old.

 

9. Darker shade powerbronze windshield in good condition

 

THe bike is sold. I am left with the Vstrom renthal bar with crossbar. it should fit all vstroms model and years. Make me an offer and it yours.

He is an active member of this forum. However, i feel sorry for him cause after he took over the bike he mentioned that there is this FI and red light coming on and staying on. It happend to me a couple of time about 10 months ago (and never happened since), and switching off and on the engine resolved it. However for the new owner off and on (i.e. rebooting) the FI is still on and alternating between clock and FI on the lcd display. Have anyone any knowledge. I have ask him to call my trusted mechanic for opinion.

just have the mechanic to check on the transmission and the fi signal will disappear. :)

Hi, i am the new owner of gargantua's and blockbyte's bike. I have been facing this issue ever since i got the bike last friday. Travelled on PIE and after about 10-15 mins, the red light with FI on display started to appear. For the rest of the journey which is abt 20 mins more, i took the risk w/o stopping to reset which i am afraid could become worse. Did anyone experience this before and went to check with the mech?

Great company and riding spirit. A great experience for all.

 

Heavy rain, sandstorm, long traffic jams, malaysian kups overtaking us in highways, rainbow, riding almost 45 degrees to the ground on straight road, overshot junction for 50km, beautiful scenery on top of summit on the way to gerik, endless twisties, high speed chase on the highway, a&w root beer float, no more pagoh boys, 18 hours of riding.

 

Best of all, everyone come back safe and in good one piece. No technical hiccups, a few lost soul along the way but manage to find the lighted path back :angel: .

 

Bike has always proved to endure such long rides w/o any problem. Rider's endurance is the only problem.

 

Good acceleration along the twisties, comfortable seating position (so comfortable that the pillion will tend to sleep behind while rider negotiate bend), big tank capacity and reasonal mileage, comfortable highway cruising speed, wide range of luggage space. VStrom no regrets :thumb:
