Hi,

I'll be out of Singapore for a month, and I'm leaving my bike at my friend's parking lot next to his bike. My quesion is this : What all should I do to the bike before I leave?

I was thinking of removing the battery contact so that it doesn't die down on me when I get back.

What about the moving parts - do I put a light film of grease on the chain?

I know we're in a good part of the world where the temperature is not that low that oil breaks and all, but I'd love to hear your opinions on what else I should do to ensure that my bike will remain as I left it.

Thanks :thumb:

the things that i would do:

- disconnect batt, to prevent batt draining

- fill up the tank, to prevent rust in tank

- padlocks for brake disc

- lube the chain

- cover up bike

if there are stray cats around the CP, drip some axe oil around, as cat-deterrent. i've gone for a week and come back to find my then recently re-wrapped seat scratched silly :(

Only one month, I wouldn't even bother to cover if it is parked under sheltered in a private lot. There is nothing in addition to what you would need for regular maintenance.

My bikes are parked without starting for longer period all the time.

Don't forget to at least turn the fuel tap off.

Some bikes carbs tend to overflow when left for a while.. you don't want a fire hazard around your bike.

Disregard what I wrote if your bike is fuel injected.

Since ur parking beside ur fren, I guess u can ask ur fren to help u start the bike at least once or twice a week. Maybe ur chrome parts of your bike u can apply autosol to prevent rust. Cos its rainy season and if ur bike is covered with a bike cover rust may form on metal parts of ur bike. Hope this helps.

wanna store ur bike.. jus follow my steps:

num 1: buy a bike canvas..

that's all u need..

before u wanna keep ur bike for long term..

FIRST THING!! Remove your battery.. the terminals u wrap it with wire tapes or what.. then u can proceed to canvasing ur bike.. make sure u tie it tight.. that's all.. keep the battery at home.. if ur bike has the fuel knob to off/on/res turn it off..

when u wanna use back.. bring the battery to bikeshop to charge.. then put back and u're ready to go.. but once put back make sure u keep the bike running for awhile before moving off lah.. =)
