Hi, I currently have 2 bikes with me. I would like to swop the number plate between the two before I scrap the older one. Anyone know the cost of doing so? Can I do online? TIA.

i have heard many conflicting stories . some people say cannot . some say can but most people say CANNOT. best is you call LTA

don't exactly need to swap since u only want to keep 1 number. U can call LTA for the exact procedure but roughly it goes like this :

apply to retain Bike A plate number just before u send it for scrap, pay $100 to retain number.

Scrap bike A

Register Bike A plate number to Bike B, pay $1200

So total u pay $1300 and might be able to be done in 1 transaction

retain number plate will have to pay $1300 upfront.

With in a year if the retained plate put on any old bike will not have any refund from LTA. If the number plate is put it on new reg bike, then LTA will refund 1.2k to the owner..

i have 3 plates retained now.. Cant decide which one go to which bikes too.. :(

The fees payable are as follows:

(a) $100 if it is to be retained from a vehicle that is to be de-registered immediately. If the retained number is subsequently used to replace the registration number on an existing vehicle registered in the owner's name, an additional fee of $1,200 will be payable.

(b) $1,300 if it is to be retained from an existing vehicle. If the retained number is subsequently used to register a new vehicle in the owner's name, $1,200 will be refunded to the owner.

So in his case where there are 2 used bikes, total is $100 + $1200? No refund.
