Hi Folks

I'm still waiting to clear my class 2b. Someone wanna sell a bike to me...

Can I allow be the owner for this used bike, but use my friend name with insurance to be the sub-rider for this bike. Park the bike at home, till I get my class 2b.

Checked the LTA form but couldn't find such transaction.

Any chance of getting it done ? or a better way to own a bike without a class 2b at this stage.

Any advice be appreciated. Thanks

If you want to lay up the bike, then its simple. You go to LTA with the seller, transfer the name and lay up the bike at LTA. Then tow the bike from LTA to your home parking area.

Or the Seller rides the bike to your home parking area, you both take a taxi down to LTA and do the transfer and lay up bike there. Then you hand over the remaining cash to the seller for the price of the bike.

Both above does not require you to purchase any insurance. After you lay up the bike, go to your town council to buy season parking for the bike parked at your home parking area.

You dont even need to put any subrider for the bike, since its laid up.

Just remember to start the bike up in the engine and do not, and I seriiously mean DO NOT let your 'friends' tow the bike for you or even take care of the bike for you. There has been situations when a rider who has not got his 2b, believes his new friends and lands himself in trouble cos that new friend went and took the bike, ride it, rent it out and the owner got into big big trouble.

Why don't you find a friend who has a license and let him buy over the bike?

Then take it from him when you have your license.

Your friend will be happy with a 2nd bike. :D

Alternatively, if the owner don't mind, you can pay a deposit for the bike first, just remember to make it black and white, in case the owner sells away the bike after accepting your money.

if you are already havin the thought of riding within the car park, you will definitely ride it out to the main road

and no matter how tempting it is for you to even ride the bike to your driving centre on your tp date... no matter how confident you are that you can pass the test...

just DONT.

and if get caught and licence revoked, can kiss your class 3 goodbye also.

Get the bike since it's a good deal. follow the steps mentioned by Viciouskitty.

lay-up bike and park with valid season parking is definitely okay with LTA cause you need to specify the location in the lay-up form.

Self control and discipline till you pass your 2b and hope to see you on the roads soon.
