Do reconfirm if its battery fault by checking using multimeter...if u dun wan to damage ur bike by frequent push starts, take the batt out and send to shop for a recharge...if it can't hold charge then buy new batt and then fix it back in...S4 batt easy to remove..

sorry to hijack but i am also to be going away for awhile. any tips to maintain or protect the bike and engine and batt?

one way is that if ur really goin for a long time, lets say for a few months, u may ask someone to juz warm-up the bike for u at least once a week to get the engine oil run thru ur engine and charge up ur batt..a 10min idle wud do juz fine..plus if ur up to it, anotha additional thing u cud do is to change the engine oil b4 ur trip..

by the way, is there such thing as expiry date for petrol?.

like say if we're gonna go on a long holiday say about 4 months or more...

what i heard is that the grade of the petrol might deteriorate after 3 months or so if it's left there not running at all..

there would be also a highly chance of rust build ups?. (well not for new bikes perhaps)..

so does the theory of saying that the grade (or perhaps octane) of petroleum can deteriorate overtime?.

i think the petrol might evaporate? and its better to fill the tank up to prevent the tank from rusting..

is there ways to push start or jump start.

1) Find a road with a gentle downwards slope. Make sure there is little traffic.

Multi storey carpark not recommended cos the turns are quite tight.

2) Sit on the bike and engage 2nd gear (clutch in) and ignition switch to 'ON'

3) As the bike accelerates downslope, release the clutch slowly when the speedo reads abt 25kmh.

4) When you feel the engine jump to life, clutch in if you need to stop, or continue riding to the bike shop.

Its best to pump full when u r not using it for long to prevent rusting.

thanks noted.

quite hard to reach 25 km/h imo.. even with a rather steep slope.. usually i juz engage gear 2 and when speedo hit 10-12, i juz release clutch and rev abit, bike will jerk abit and the engine will roar back to life, in the same instance, release throttle and clutch in to prevent you from flying into a wall or something :D

i guess so.. my batt got bloated, it actually expands.. after i did not start my phantom for 2 months..

i was using yusa x9 battery at that time...

the mech's eye almost exploded by looking at the size of the battery.

no idea as to what might have cause the batt to bloat till twice its size. .

Thanks all for the sharing.

Probably, Bikers community like S4 can help one another within an estate basis like AMK, Toa Payoh, just be contactable [may or may not be available] especially for battery related etc - to assist in sending it for recharging or replacement. At least, the biker that faces this minor problem need not have to call "ambulan" to the workshop and pay extra.

Coummunity bonding and friendship building also good mah...

Thanks and namaste to all for the sharing.

i think disconnect 1 will do? cos there wont be a complete flow if 1 is disconnected.. that's my limited and lousy physics assumption..
