I would say dun buy first and wait at least until you "stabilized" in your NS. For now, start saving/earning enough money to buy your dream bike.

if you are going to ns, then not advisible o buy first.

1st 1-4 months, u would be at bmt stage followed by next 6-9 months ocs/ scs stage. during this time you can ride but cant park in camp. only during unit life then can park in.

you can afford to down pay for your bike. but there other cost such annual insurance/ road tax/ inspection. on top of that, monthly petrol/ erp and preventive maintenance cost to consider.

if touch wood, bike breaks down and you need to set aside of money for repair too.

unless your savings is like a few thousands, your monthly ns pay wont be enough for coi/ maintainance/ petrol.

Thanks for the info. Right now my current situation is that i actually have saved up around 4 to 5 thousand ? prolly can get a bike that has coe till 2022. Many say its not worth to buy now because the bike will be way under utilized when i go for ns. What would u do if you were me.

Since your NS is around Jun ~ Oct... I would rather you wait until you ORD or if you're lucky to be posted into a Stay-out unit.

Think of it this way, you are paying thousand over dollars yearly on a mobile phone plan and you don't even get to enjoy it.

$4k~ $5k can only last you for the first year, you will not be able to afford the 2nd annual insurance (Base on your age)

It's more of a burden if you ask me.

Not to mention when you book out, the bike will most likely be giving you tons of problems. The first problem you will encounter is to startup the bike.

For motorcycle we need to ride it regularly to ensure it's in good condition, not to mention monthly basic servicing or some would go for basic servicing every 3000 ~ 5000 Km.
