Hi osxunix, I saw you on the trunk road before Gerik town. Was surprised to see a Sgp plate Handa Phantom riding alone. Gave you a friendly wave as i rode past you. I was riding in a group which consist of a Honda Goldwing, KTM adventure, Harley rocker and me a Suzuki m109r. Don't know whether you noticed us? We left on Sunday morning from Betong too but we went up to Hatyai.

Yes yes I saw you all on petrol station also before Gerik town are you the one give me a thumb up along Gerik if I'm not wrong I also seek advise from the guy who drove Harley rocker where to get a white card when I was in Thai custom haha.

The last time I saw you all siting in a coffee shop opposite Sri Betong hotel

1 full day to cover all areas will do.

 

Anyway, the usual Thai immigration process to be followed.

Slightly more ex than Sadao border because they charge rm2 for chop passport and rm2 (or rm3?) for vehicle process. * Different counter.

Ok, so at the custom b4 betong would be rm2 for passport, rm3 or 2 for vehicle form chop, which is rm5 in total?

We didn't buy Thai insurance because Betong Town centre is only 6.8km from the border...

But bare in mind there is no HP reception there for SG Sim Card. You'll basically 'disappeared' unless you use hotel wifi.

i have full 3G connectivity in Betong. Even in Pattani, Yala & Narratiwat.

Been doing some research and read thru the thread. hope there's some reply. Last minute planning to go to betong next week during the long holidays. There is few questions i like to ask which i cant get in this thread or maybe i overlook?

 

1. How much is the insurance cost? is it almost the same price at sadao boarder? Where can i purchase it?

2. Last petrol station before border is Pengkalan hulu Petronas?

Sorry for late reply. Didn't visit this thread.

 

For Betong, we generally don't buy insurance. It's just a few Km from the border, similarly like Dannok.

 

The last Petronas station is at the round-about in Pengkalan Hulu. There is also a Shell Station nearby, in the direction towards Baling/Penang.
