Manage to buy one recently but it needs a top end overhaul. Unfortunately

evershine does not have the engine gasket so I've to lay up for at least 3

mths pending the arrival of the new stock. I'll rebuild it totally and turn it

into a retro classic.

zephyrrt, where are u doing up your Zed? Any pics to show us ?

Hell Yeah!

Ive been here for 8 months maybe here for another 6 to 12 months depends on job. been looking for a bike since getting here and could not resist a zephyr, I had a 550 in 91 bit underpowered but loved the style and thought it was perfect for here.

Thanks for the welcome.

not here I had a 550 in the UK in 1991 loved the style but at the time it seemed underpowered as i was looking for sportier machines then. But 15 years has made the street style more appealing than power now for this old guy.

simply stupid of bike shop to say KAWA bike no resale but then sellin it overprice than the rest of the brands.. Really pity...

blackie, how much are they asking?

in excess of 3k.

questions marks on the engine, chain is rusted, forks and shocks are shot, all fluids need to be replaced as it has been standing for a long while...tyre's are hard.

didn't fire it up, hopefully carbs are ok

good point is that the paint still looks good.

bet the carb rubbers have gone seems to be common here in this weather, mine where and it had problems running smoothly, i had them replaced and all ok now when hot but still a little hesitant when cold, typical kawaski choke either all or nothing!.

Hi Rob,

All the four rubber carb holders (Kawasaki term) of my bike had rotten, cracked and leaked. If I am not wrong Kawasaki has improved this part on 2001 models and onward which they put an aluminium tube insert moulded with rubber and O-rings at both ends of the carb holder but I am not sure this revised part is backward compatible with the earlier model or not.

You are damn right, the choke is either all or nothing, it would be easier to balance yourself on a wire than to hold a steady fast idling using the choke level.

The Zephyr is still with me, probable you didn’t notice it as it is covered. I moved the W400 to the visitor lot as our place is currently repainting… quite a mess in the car park now.
