Hey guys,

I was wondering whether it is compulsory to bring out your driving license when you are out with your bike?

And what would happen if you forgot to have it with you?

Thanks a bunch!

Hmm interesting topic. Sometimes I go nearby I don't bring along my license too.

But I guess the TP will be able to check if we have the license?

Ya but the thing is, i just passed my TP so don't really have the driving license card yet though. The paper slip i got, accidentally got into contact with water hence disintegrated till beyond recognition. Which brings me here asking the particular question.

driving licence not really that important to bring along with you. same goes with i/c.

because when they screen you, all your data will be there..

you must and always bring along your insurance.. otherwise you will be given 24 hours or the next working day to produce your insurance to your nearest npp.

roadtax, you dont even need to display at all..

What I heard is, if you never bring IC or driving license, TP will bring you back to HQ to check and confirm your details.. Just dun retaliate lor.. and give them your ic number.. If you're in no wrong, there's no need to worry too much, I guess.. But this is hearsay.. Not entirely sure so I shall not be held responsible should I give wrong info, k?

Usually license will arrive in your letterbox between 3 days to 2 weeks' time.

that is all hearsay indeed...that is not true...

tp will only bring you back together with your vehicle if they suspect you having illegal mod and your vehicle will be in their custody. only after inspection (they will escort you there), then only you can go scott free..

If you don't have it with you, you have the choice to show it within 24 hours. As slutgarden says, all your data is in the TP database, so even if you lose your physical licence, you can still apply for another piece.

Road Traffic Act

Production of driving licences

39. —(1) Any person driving a motor vehicle on a road shall, on being so required by a police officer, produce his driving licence for examination so as to enable the police officer to ascertain his name and address, the date of issue and the authority by which it was issued, and if he fails to do so he shall be guilty of an offence.

(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), if within 24 hours after the production of his driving licence was so required, the licensee produces the licence in person at such police office or police station in Singapore as may be specified by the police officer at the time its production was required, the licensee shall not be convicted of an offence under this section.

He who hesitates is lost!

Always refer to the respective ACTs :thumb::thumb::thumb:.

That is only for illegal mod issues.

If the mod is legal, the rider just didnt bring his NRIC or Driving Licence out.

The TP can screen the verbal NRIC numbers to know for sure if the rider/driver is licenced to ride a bike.

Besides verbally giving a NRIC number, it might help if the Rider/Driver has a photo identification to prove that he is who he quote his NRIC numbers to be.
