Actually, I feel it's good if we all treated this as an informative thread to guide prospective track riders so they know what to expect when they go there for the very first time.

Of course, I myself bring the bare minimums -- ok lah, maybe I come unprepared sometimes too.

Anyhoo, enough digression. On with the list:

Non-technical preparations

1. Quick glance at the track layout (first timers to PG or Sepang)

2. Passport and embarkation card (aka "white card").

3. Tyre pressure gauge

4. Tools to dismantle your mirrors and signal lights (optional)

5. Cash (there's also money changers at Central Johor/Gelang Patah R&Rs)

Technical ones

1. Read/set tyre pressures before heading out

** please refer to the threads here on Tyres & pressures drafted by the senior track-goers for more information.

2. Brakes

3. Tyres (for any punctures)

4. All the nuts and bolts (are they tight?)

5. Leaks (rectify if there's any)

I'm a lazy muddafoker bro.. I'd pack my suit in a friend's car or van.. And I'd just ride over to the track with my jeans and/or tee-shirt. For tools, I just need a size 10 to open up my mirrors and rear plate no.

I'm still trying out tyre pressures, and I drop them 1psi when I wanna experiment.

I started out 30/30 going around 75% of my ability on Dunlop a10's. So far okay. But then again, i'm not gunning the throttle (yet) so you may have to play around with your setup.

Mirrors, legally no.

As long as we track junkies are still on Singapore roads, all of us are expected to abide by LTA/TP rules and regulations.

Customs-wise, it depends on whether the LTA inspection team is there or not. But if an officer insists on having every vehicle checked, this siao-on officer is going to make one's day lucky.

As for the I/U, they say it's an offence already if one tampers or exchanges it out with someone else's without visiting the inspection centers and also, LTA's approval. So I'm guessing that it is probable that dismantling the IU falls under the same definition of committing an offence...

Ughh...hate that word.

P.S. I/U's are ugly. I rather concentrate on my onboard gauges and lines, rather than get distracted by some ubiquitous...box. :)

from wat i see.. alot of newbies try to go too fast too early.. end up.. crashing.. so riders who r bringin their frens or whoever new to the track.. pls advise them to discipline themselve.. go slow.. n increase their speed slowly

For me, Hydration is as important as bike and gear prep.

Sometimes I get so carried away with riding I forget to hydrate, end up with a splitting headache after the track session.
