Sorry i banged your mirror

Today as i was travelling along the road beside Ngee Ann sec towards Temasek Poly, i banged into a black car's side mirror. I looked back and saw the mirror bent outwards, i thought cars' side mirror is like bike's, can bend anyhow so i did not stop, thinking no damage was done. When i asked my friend later, i found out it can only be bend inward not outward, so i guess I must have damage the side mirror. I'm very sorry, If u're the driver pls pm me, i'll bear full responsibility as required of me. Once again very sorry.

cars with side mirrors that cannot be bend outward would have already broken off. Most modern cars have side mirrors that can be bended outward & inward. However you may have chipped or cracked the mirror or the casing. A VW mirror, just the mirror only would cost about $180 because it has heating elements built-in. Complete side mirror assembly would cost about $450 before spraying and installation.

 

Since you have already left the scene, there isn't much you can do now but to you pray that the driver didn't take down your bike registration. At best you will be fined for careless riding, and worst, all the damages (regardless if they were caused by you) would be claimed under your insurance, plus careless driving.

 

I would believe that it's basic road courtesy to stop and assess the damage before riding off.

i have hit/touched many mirrors, but always mine bent, how u manage to bend others mirrors? but i'm curious.

The other time i hit the mirror of another car, nothing happened to its mirror, only my mirror bent, but this time i also not sure why nothing happened to my mirror, instead the car's mirror bent, maybe it hit my handlebar instead?

Dont ride so close to another vehicle.

Dont squeeze so tightly.

Dont inconvenience others and put yourself in danger

In my opinion , you do not have to go into car forums to pursue this.

 

however, the key here is that you dont continue riding in that same manner which will cause you to hit another car mirror.

not so serious lah. Few years back, this biker was squeezing between stationary cars, and slammed into my rear, broke my rear lamp, and created some scratches. Got his registration, made a report and three months TP informed me that he was summoned for careless driving. With that letter, I did a full claimed on his insurance, amounting to $1700. Replaced rear lamp, patch & spraying the back panel and 3 days of loss of car usage. Had he stopped, it wouldn't have cost him more than $600. I could see the smile on the owner of my insurance designated garage.

Wow, u r so nice to own up.

I wish the person who knocked down my bike TWICE (even though it was parked properly inside a bike's parking lot) would own up.

Even if don't own up, at least I hope he/she would polish up his/her parking skills.

seriously, if take down number plate n report police, got wat evidence to prove d bike hit your car mirror(assuming nv tk foto from hp etc etc)? Purely reporting from word of mouth to the police, owner of bike oso can say he didnt knock ma..den how?
