From past experience (no pillion):

100km/h and below = 25km/L

110km/h = 24km/L

120km/h = 23km/L

130km/h = 22km/L

140km/h = 20km/L *FC drop more from this speed.

150km/h = 18km/L and below.

how come speeds are in km/h... tot yours are in mph?

so our garment is quite considerate for our pockets to put the speed limit at 90km/h + 10km/h for overtaking

according to the "inside" info, their allowance is +13km/h, in accordance to their speedometer. so for us, +10km/h is still safe, even for car drivers.

anyway, for the FC thingy, me is on the more boh chap type. when my meter goes near the red zone (swt is analogue), i go to the petrol kiok to top up le. din do exact calculation & record. now i dun bother to see the meter for avg FC as its not accurate to me... juz know my fc is roughly 21~22km/L. its juz me la.

Thanks for your sharing on FC & broquet, guys.

rode 600+km on my SW alrd, over 3 weeks, been enjoying it more and more.

honestly, never expect it to be so relaxing, tot scooter is difficult to ride.

and i like the space...

currently still running in, average speed abt 85km/h, FC abt 25km/l...

btw, i alw pump full tank. the indicator will stay at first bar for abt close to 60km and then there is a rapid drop from first bar to 2nd or 3r. anybody encounter that?

o yah, one word of caution: if you are riding along lentor ave, better avoid bus lane. the road is alw congested, the temptation to use bus lane is very high. lately there has been increased spot check by lta. few weeks back i used bus lane to overtake a lorry kana spotted by lta. good thing they accepted my appeal, otherwise poorer by $130.

My last bar also start blinking when i hit 260-270km. Never hit 280km before in my nearly 3.5yrs of riding it. Maybe bec it's the way i ride? Not forgetting, i do more of city riding than expressway. i think my fuel tank will empty at 340km.

I guess another factor is how much u squeeze petrol into the tank when refueling?

Last Fri afternoon, had the fright of my life.

It was raining and i went down into the basement carpark of a condo. Was then going straight at a snail's pace (no abrupt acceleration or braking) with both legs down as the ground was wet. Then suddenly, the bike fishtailed a number of times so badly that i thought i was going to crash into a pillar or a nearby parked car. Gd thing it stopped fishtailing just in time and i ended up in an empty (phew!) car lot. My heart was pounding so fast after that. And what's more, I'm on relatively new Diablo Scooter tyres.

That's the only 1 thing I dun really like abt SW, is that it seems more 'slippery' than my previous bikes. Never encountered so much fishtailing before. Otherwise, on dry roads, everything abt SW is great!

Now I'm taking nothing for granted, esp when manuevering in a MSCP with wet surfaces.

yes, some pp fill till "auto stop", some pp fill till overflow... i fill till can see petrol :p

relatively new Diablo Scooter tyres.

esp when manuevering in a MSCP with wet surfaces.

not a SW only problem... fishtailing is common with bikes with heavy asses

the smooth MSCP floor is a real hazard when wet, plus a new tyre... need to be extra-extra careful.

imo, diablo scoot is a cheap-n-good tyre, but rather slippery when new. anyway, all new tyres needs run-in to scrub of the smooth surface layer which is "contaminated" with slippery chemicals. many webbies recommended a run-in distance of 100miles (abt 160km) but that doesn't mean we're 100% safe. there're always chances when we ride over oily patches without realising and MSCPs with many "mechs" or leaking bikes have more booby traps :p

New tyres can be very slippery (especially if ridden in the wet) & need to be 'run in' correctly to help prevent any accidents.

The slippery surface on a new tyre is caused by 2 main reasons.

~When new, a tyre has a very smooth surface & in order to obtain maximum grip, the smooth surface needs to be 'scrubbed in'.

~Some manufacturers use 'releasing agents' when they make the tyres. These 'releasing agents' contain 'anti-ageing preservatives' which help to stop a tyre degrading whilst in storage. Releasing agents need to be scrubbed from a new tyres surface.

Yes, you are right... sometime i pump till can c petrol and sometime i pump almost near overflow... :p

Yup, believe most of us experienced the same in MSCP too. Bike heavy is one of the issue but not at all, i ride super 4 scare me once, x8 oso once.. both during raining day.....hate the 'slippery' in MSCP:angry:

I always ride to the sides, away from the wet tire marks in the center.

Throttle should be slow and constant. Blip the throttle suddenly and you'll fishtail.
