running mapsource no need wifi lar, it runs offline... bring your laptop and hope Atlantic and/or robinowyong turns up, they're experts.

 

Yup I have installed MFM 110309 map and POIs successfully.

The challenge now is how to put in the way point.

congrats... you've done a big and import step towards enjoying the GPS... now is to learn how to enjoy it

 

entering waypoints can be done:

* directly on the GPS

* using mapsource then transfer to GPS

* load file to mapsource then transfer to GPS ... good way to backup all you waypoints and routes

i can transfer my waypoints to your GPS using mapsource tomolo, if you want

yah, i got the garmin nuvi 500.

 

For the map file (something like gmappu), I can only have one for the gps right? Cant load malfreemap and malsingmap together at the same time?

yup... the nuvi 500/550 recognises only the gmapsupp.img as map file and it must be inside the \garmin\ folder (either on the nuvi's memory or microSD card). i.e. only 1 version of map can be loaded.

unlike the 1xxx series, any other names or locations will be ignored.

 

in any case, it is NOT advisable to load >1 maps at the same time. they don't work like 1+1=2.

the maps DO NOT collate with each other but the upper "section" will cover the lower (we don't know the sequence) and you'll end up with less details/info.

 

for our coming tour up to tongyum-land, use the malfree map... Sg, MY, s.TH maps are included. MSM maps do not have s.TH.

 

btw, MFM has just released 110314... i haven't even use 110309 and now 110304 is out. where to find this kind of updates mann

Finally my SW chrome insignia reach n collected today.. Waiting more than 3mth sia... Now need help... How to paste properly? Need a SW for sample, need agar agar measure the origin plc to be pasted on the side cover... Help!!! Chairman u did it b4?

i used musking tape to place/align the insignias in their respective spots first.

then look see look see from far to compare... if happy, then paste it permanently using self-adhesive tapes on the insignia. to prevent loosing the spot, can use either musking tapes to mark the bottom (horizontal) and sides, or use water soluble marker to lightly make alignment marks (use wet tissue to wipe off later).

Tmr bring ur stickers w u n we do it there ba. My advise is, keep e surface wet but clean first, so when u stick on stil can adjust. Don need air dryer to dry it, leave it air dry for ard 30mins wil b good liao. But dont ride too fast for that next few hrs.

Besides changing my EO at Ah choong just now, i also installed the J.costa, after much consideration... I abit worried as no SW had installed bef, when i ask him.

After tat he went to test my bike as he himself nv try bef.

Ha Ha, Saw a hole in my Pocket, but bike shown great improvement after tat.

Bike moved at 2.5K, instead of my usual 2.8K. better throttle now. Can't test anymore liao, as my Financial Controller was wit me, wait kenna scold!

hmm. it's surprising the moving off rpm actually drop. For tmax, it increases. not just mine, but several others on the overseas forums too. Maybe the gearing system is different, that's why the impact is different.

 

But yeah. pickup definitely shld be better. post more long term review ba. or, better still, join us on Sunday!

finally, we've a SW running the j.costa... hopefully ghee can help the community by posting his review on the variator.

p/s: best if after some weeks of riding so that can have data for FC, rpms readings, low/high end performance, etc. after the euphoria of acquiring a new toy subsides
