Spoiled IU!?!?

anyone can advise what to do? or direct me to somewhere where i can get it done up. i am trap in non erp gantry roads!

 

Problem/s

 

when i insert my card inside. light doesnt lit up. there is no sound. its like off. My battery is working fine. wondering whats wrong with the IU unit.

check if:

- IU fuse intact

- wires intact

- wires connected to battery properly

 

if all fails, bring it to Vicom to check...

 

My IU is damaged. What do I do?

 

You may proceed to have your IU checked at any VICOM inspection centre (open from 8am to 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays)

 

Does my IU come under warranty when I purchase it?

 

Every IU comes with a five-year warranty period starting from the date of purchase.

 

Must I pay for the repair / replacement of my IU?

 

This is decided on a case-by-case basis

Don't bother troubleshooting an IU... Still under warranty?

 

If it is still under warranty and the IU is not working, just continue to ride normally in the roads (ERP or not). Put in your cashcard in of course and wait for the inspection letter to arrive.

 

Let LTA pay for the IU repair.

then u have to pay for a new IU. Cost abt $160+

New warranty for 5 years.

 

Can get it done at any VICOM.

hahaha now you knw. I just go Vicom buy nia. Si bei tulan hahaha.... So ex somemore. Thus you need to PAY $ first in order to PAY LTA $ for using their road which you have already PAID coe and road tax. Shiok rite. welcome to SG ROAD! Oh btw you bike can only use 10 years HAHAHAHA!

 

Anyway back to topic. wat was the last thing you did before this happens? Cos like wat "ganman" said, you have the IU but spoil, just put in cash card and continue riding. ignore and just take it as you dunno spoil. Then LTA letter will come to ask you go for inspection. If you wanna skip all this and get it done, firstly if you knw how to check the fuse which usually is the problem. Then check connection on your battery. Lastly if everything ok, means IU spoil have to replace. If under warranty, GOOD FOR YOU. if not, HONG KAN, Pay $ inorder to Pay $ which you already Paid.

how do u check the fuse. i look and look. cannot it! wah.. i just send my bike to change exhaust, sprocket and chains now this things happen.

trace the wire from the iu to the batt/power source..

u will find a black capsule.. the fuse is in it..

screw it open and check it..

the fuse is a glass tube wif 2 metal ends..

if there isn't any tiny wire(hair like) across the 2 metal ends, means the fuse is gone.. get a change..

Frankly I don't understand or get it. Why do we need to pay for a device that "sucks" your money? LTA is passing on the cost of implementing a payment method to the "consumers". Even with motorpay I also have to pay a charge for using the service and the worst thing is I can't remove the ugly IU.

 

I have written to LTA about this. Just wait for the new IU to be launched and if cashcards are phased out, all of us will be somewhat forced to "buy" a new IU which accepts CEPAS! Incredible how they force us to make this mode of payment.

what does CEPAS do?

dun nid to trouble urself to troubleshoot the IU, juz go to any VICOM get them to verify ur IU whether is the IU unit faulty by itself or it is due to a blown fuse/ short circuit/ open circuit etc....

 

Coz they hav the scanner, once they scan ur IU they would have know is it unit faulty or it is not properly installed... best part is, it is free!!

 

If it is faulty and under warranty juz change for FREE, if warranty expired and got no $$ to pay for a new, juz nid to sign 1 form to acknowledge that u knew the IU is faulty.. if u go pass ERP gantry then u hav to pay fine...

yesterday i tried to top up the card value from ATM which i think they have not started the function. zzzzzzzzzzzz Then worst thing is that both my cashcard cannot top up value. Lets hope they dun force us to phase out cashcard, then all have to change IU.
