i'm riding a SP.

this is a most annoyed thing about my bike.

my full tank can only go about 150 to 160 km in a single full tank.

i have even filled the tank with 10 liters per time i pump.

the most it goes was 160km.:cry:

is it normal?

i read in forum some people's one can go up to 250 before reserve...

i even send in my bike for check up and spent $100+ just for checking and the mech just changed the pin jad (the pin at the carburetor there).

@ the fuel gauge there half tank gives me 80 to 90 km. reserve falls ard 130km.

then i was once entering malaysia every single week to pump.

i pumped there esso F1. that time it gave me 180km to 190km with full tank.

in singapore i always pump caltex Platinum with Techron® then i wanted to check with other grades.

then i pump Gold with Techron® it still gives me the same mileage....

so what could be the problem?? the mech also dono. he said last result is to change the carb.

Any body advice me what to do??

2nd problem.

My tire the air always leaks off and every day i have to pump. I just brought the tire like 5 months back.

tire is battalex. still got tread in it. got any shop to check where is the leakage coming from?

also if found the leakage is it advice able to patch up the part??

Thanks in advance.

Sorry if the question is noob:(

I don't ride sp, but there are some common things that you can check.

First get your leaking tire problem resolved and see if your mileage per tank improves.

For your tire problem, you can use soap water to find the leak. Check for punctures caused by foreign objects, leaking air valves (a common problem in old valves) and the most difficult problem to find is out of shape rims.

Just spray thick soapy water on your tire and look for bubbles.

If it is a puncture (e.g. nails) and the angle of intrusion is almost perpendicular at the contact patch, you can patch it up with not much problems. If the puncture is at an acute angle or at the sidewall, it is advised to change your tire.

If your wheel is damaged (out of shape, e.g. accident), then you have to change the wheel.

If it has leaking at the air valve (the place where you pump air), you can get it changed also.

As for your fuel consumption, there are many factors that affect your mileage per tank of fuel. Here are some of them:

- Riding style (aggressive or smooth)

- Tire pressure (correct tire pressure improves fuel consumption and lengthens tire life)

- Traffic condition (Always in a jam? Mostly highway cruising? Mostly in city stop and go traffic?)

- Load on bike (Do you always pillion people? Are you a heavyweight sumo wrestler?)

- Condition of your bike (well maintained? Wear and tear parts replaced routinely?)

basically the fuel consumption problem exists before the tire problem came about. basically i'm ard 85kg. abit weigher then most sp riders:cheeky::p

riding style is sometime whack sometime smooth. for me i always go school in bike so take express way. coming back same. then i go to a places bear my house. Not jam @ all. only traffic lights.

nowadays never pillion people...

Last time never pump air @ all. think was 29. now every day i pump in 34. and i have to pump @llmost everyday.

so far no wear and tear.

almost all replaced, like tires, brake disc, brake pad...

also is there any shops which can check for the leakage and will cover the leak??

might be the setting of your bike not properly done.

i also encounter this FC problem. same as you right now only can go till 160km full tank.

ask your mech to do the setting for more FC, but you cannot always whack your bike else will piston jam/seize.

correct me if im wrong guys.

im still learning new things everyday! :D

Like what BELRAY mentioned, it could be your bike's tuning also. Have you washed your carb before? If not maybe you can go to workshop, ask them to wash carb, check worn parts in the carb and do tuning at the same time. If you have not checked your air filter and spark plug, check them also.

As your bike is considered an old bike already, engine internals could be worn also. 2 stroke bikes are prone to carbon build up in the internals, you might want the mechanics to clean them up. Will take them some time and it won't be cheap.

Another cause of fuel consumption problem is the condition and setup of your suspension. If it is not good, it can affect your handling and fuel consumption.

Any bike workshop will be able to help you check for leaking air and patching, it is just how much they want to carrot you.

I have my S4 serviced at Unique Motorsports, so far no issues with them. Most of the prices for major servicing are listed in their advertiser's thread.

When you go to a workshop, first tell them your problem, and ask them to quote you a price for the things that needs to be done. If you are not sure, just tell them that you will come another day. Then you can come to the forum to ask for advice on what you were told at the workshop.

Try to be around when they service your bike, observe what they are doing and ask questions when you are not sure what they are doing. You have to determine whether they are logical in their explanations. After all you are paying them to do the work for you. Do not be afraid of dirtying your hands if needed.

If your 2 stroke is well maintained, have good 2t of the correct ratio then there won't be any piston jam problems even if you whack every time you get on your bike.

ohhhs okay!

that means 2t must open big? as in the ratio flow of the 2t down to piston to lube.

thanks for the clarify!

Yeah carb washed and spark plug changed regularly. think is the tunning. my bike come out white smoke. cause i overhaul after new year.

didn't know for this.... suspension plays apart. very interesting...

I have asked the bro whom does bike washing in tampines. think the name is Ima/Ruby. Nick is Dgapz

hmmm, recommanded you to proceed to planet and ask them to check for you the tire first... if mend holes onli $5.. the rest can check with the boss there.. price okok.. service good.. any issues can go back and fixed it for FOC if the boss never did it correctly... :)

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

Please proceed to this website/web link if you guys have any technical issues on Kawasaki Kips/KR150, I'll update the 1st POST as and when there's a new question. Newbies questions on the top as well. :)

Not kosong stomach, more like your pistons, valves, combustion chamber and such.

Not enough 2t in your fuel, you risk piston jam.

Too much 2t, you risk smoking, carbon buildup and fouling your spark plugs.

When your suspension is not doing its job your bike is not tracking properly, energy generated from your bike's combustion is wasted, thus resulting in higher fuel consumption.

Most significant impact on fc (if engine internals is in good condition) would be improper tire pressure.

Just sharing what I know, best is to do more research on the net.

There is a SP thread in this forum, you will be able to get a lot more info and advice there.

No doubt planet is very popular in this forum, I still believe that as the bike owner it is our responsibility to ensure that the mechs do a good job there and then. I try to minimize my trips to the workshops due to incomplete or improper work done, as it is a waste of time and money(petrol).

Don't just believe every single word a mechanic said, best is to do some research ourselves. In that way we gain knowledge of our own bikes and could prevent ourselves from spending unnecessary money.

Things like patching holes from nail punctures, we can actually diy. Saves a lot of money in the long run and it just takes 5 mins at the petrol kiosk air pump.

if your tyre leaking, go get a flatfree by madagco about 30 bucks.. its a liquid you put inside your tyres... it will seal small holes.. your mech change which pin?.. usually its the carburetor float valve worn or jet break.

my two babes..
