So basically, 15W-50 is good enough right?

Afterall, we're in Singapore, the number before W don't need so low.

The number after W, higher means oil flows slower, means the filter has more time to filter out the impurities and particles right?

Fast or slow filtering, it filter the same. Most important, filter don't choke.

I've got filter choke before ha ha. I replace every 10,000km instead of 5000km. The oil pressure warning light came on. Check oil level ok. After change oil filter ok ha ha :p. I thought old bike no need to change so often.

Anyways, can the oil filter be changed independently from the oil? Meaning don't have to drain the engine oil?

Well, the last I saw, it was $23-26 for 1 liter bottle....

I can feel the mineral oil MS currently use for the DT is making the engine really coarse....

The engine doesn't seem as eager to rev or as responsive compared to the previous oil change....

Made in Germany

Selling at Giant

You dare to try? Ha ha.

Wonder why it uses a tortoise as a mascot???

frankly speaking for small cc bikes, no point using such high grade EO, 2t if applicable, fuel and spark plugs all these..because the performance is just slightly difference, close to no difference..just that maybe instead of every 5000km regular servicing, do it at 3/4 thousand km..

FUCH.

Filter can buy at $15. No point changing filter when you not changing the oil. You contaminating the filter

Try the 5W-40. The 15W-50 is too "thick" for Singapore. You will feel less power for your vehicles. My personal "feel" I am no expert.

Yes, agreed to a certain extend.

EO don't recommend to use 2T as the grade is usually too thin like 20. I am still confuse as to why new cars can run 30 oil. Less drag, good fuel consumption but protection also good too it seems.

As for smaller bike don't need to use good oil is a matter of preference and application.

Most small 4T bike also subject to the same torture as a bigger cc bikes.

If one uses mineral oil and changes regularly is as good as using synthetic.

Now the question is this scooter 125cc although small is subjected to high rpm constantly say 6000rpm to 7000rpm average riding. If it's a normal 2B motorcycle with gears will have lower rpm with same average road speed. In another words, it's about protection not performance. I agree that it will not yield better performance but better protection.

As for spark plugs and fuel, I agree that it's not about better performance also.

For spark plugs, I use iridium for efficiency and longer service interval.

Leaving everything stock is the best for reliability.

So the focus here is if it's about performance than no point.

If it's about better protection and longer service interval, then it's well worth it.

Ha ha, after explaining, I now understand why I did all these things.

Fuch - I thought you swearing, ha ha.

If talking about Ubi carry what oil. Can't remember seeing Fuch but I saw elf.

Citimac I saw Idemitsu.

I think 40 will be better also but since recommended 5W50, I better stick to it until I know why Kymco recommend 5W50.

Posted

Just now ask my friend why my old skipper recommend 5w40 but Kymco recommend 5w50.

He says could be due to vibration to prevent premature wear.

Hmmm... Till a certain extend, sounds credible. :)

Thicker oil do act as a damper for noise and vibration I guess.

Oh well. So I shall stick to MS first then.

See how's their oil. If good, then I shall stick to the brand. Or else, I'll try OWS the 2nd time round.
