It's your word against his word. You can email to the traffic police and see what action it will take. I have done it before (was in a taxi when a turning lorry swerved into our lane) and the TP did respond to my report. However I do not know what the TP eventually did. My thinking is even a letter from the TP will be good as it will give the stupid driver a good scare.

Go back to that stretch of Mandai Road.

Note down the lampost number and the direction of the road where it roughly started. And note down the last lampost where he starts his zig zagging.

Note down the date and time.

Compile your information with the colour and make of the car. You already has the number plate.

If possible, mention which window is tinted, which side is the exhaust and a rough description of the driver if you seen him.

Write the letter to traffic police. It will be up to them to link up with other statements or other complaint letter of the same make, model, colour and number plate of the car.

Then request the owner of the car to produce a driver for refreshing his driving skills.

They might not reply you, since there is always a lot of complaint letters.

So just dont be waiting too earnestly. Just relax, be careful of such drivers and stay far far away from them. Especially if they can just hit and run and no one could have encounter you lying on the road for dozens of hours.

Don't always blame the driver in this kind of situation. No doubt he is driving dangerously, but it is you who provoked him in the first place (based on what you wrote).

I guess few people (riders and drivers) have good road etiquette nowadays.

When you are on the overtaking lane (1st lane), you are expected to move out of the way when you see a fast approaching vehicle coming from behind and not wait until he flashes at you before you take action.

This has always been a hotly debated issue on various forums. Some thinks that as long as he is at speed limit, he has not done anything wrong. In fact it is a common understanding among most seasoned road users that 1st lane is for overtaking and not cruising, as long as there is a faster vehicle behind you, you are expected to move out of the way as soon as possible.

If that driver can filter into lane 2 to overtake you, it is very obvious that you are hogging lane 1.

A little consideration for other road user's goes a long way in creating a better ride/drive on the road.

there isnt any thing call road hogging unless u are taking ur own sweet time while an ambulance or official car behind with blinker.

also if i am nt wrong, mandai road limit is abt 60-70km/h so whichever lane it is, it is that fast that most bike will be road hogging. if expressway is another story la.

also the moment the joker point the international sign. he is at wrong le. he can be charge for road bully if i am nt wrong.

someone kindly clarify pls.

I think it makes this issue so much easier if everyone can keep left unless overtaking regardless if it is an expressway or not. And you are right that the joker shouldn't have shown the finger but if I am not wrong he can only be charged if the offended one is a female.

Riders are already exposed to more hazards than drivers, I don't think it is advisable to make an already vulnerable situation worst.

Mandai road's speed limit is 70km/h. I use this road everyday to get to work and generally the traffic is very light on this road, so I don't see a problem keeping left throughout the whole stretch.

Be safe and happy.

well ... it is in the driving rules that 1sst lane is for overtaking only ... as much as I agree that drivers in singapore are poorly trained and drive really bad (and I rode and drove in many different countries_)it seems to me you actually started the whole incident, notwithstanding the fact that drivers subsequent behaviour was childish to say the least ... lets remember it is not anyone's business to limit other people speed by hogging lanes, each of us decide for themselves and it is for TP to enforce it... lets not road hog especially that most roads here are in good conditions...

I have encountered a worse driver along woodlands ave 12. I was riding on the right lane behind a lorry. The centre lane had another lorry travelling at almost the same speed as the one in front of me. I kept half a car distance away from the lorry in front of me. I was riding at about 70km/h. A toyota altis was tailgating me all this while, keeping real close to me. I don't know if he's blind or what. Can't he see that there's a lorry in front of me?

you should had signalled left, slowly slowed down and waved at him to pass you. No point allowing yourself to be trapped in such a situation.

learning to be a better rider.

the problem was... the centre lane was full of traffic as well. (i.e. there was another car beside me) some drivers are just plain impatient. wonder why they are always in a rush. maybe they are dying soon.

Firstly, pls let me clarify myself for those who find that I'm in the wrong in the first place and I provoked that driver.

I was riding on SLE(CTE) near Mandai, not Mandai Rd.

Yes correct, I know I should not be in the 1st lane, but I was OVERTAKING many slower Commercial Vehicle hogging on the centre lane (should not be on centre lane in the 1st place) and this B@$tard came suddenly out of nowhere, maybe he could have been zig-zagging the traffic like nobody's business behind me and came close to me at that point of time while I was OVERTAKING on the 1st lane!

BTW, that fast approaching car from behind didnt even gave me chance to react and he flashed his highbeam.

Yo, I've already received a reply from TP (that's efficient).

They request for my particulars and mentioned that they'll take appropriate actions against that B@$tard...
