sometimes ride faster actually give u lower fc..

the best is travelling juz before the rpm where it starts to consume more for more power.. u try ride slow and see how is it.

:)

forgot to add in, - i ride fast including draging and changing gear. after my 5th tank , i wont test the FC already. will be riding normal.

wait for the result when u ride normally..

if there is still an increase on top of the 1st few tanks..

then the stuff works..

Hi all,

I will like to seek help from the CBRian here.

2 days ago when I was going back from work, I started my bike as usual but realised my bike headlight was not working. I thought it was just a normal bulbs blown so I did a check when I reach home. Check my bulbs and it were alright and I try to start my bike up again.

Then the problem came, my bike was not able to crank(starting the bike) at all. Check my speedometer panel, taillights and signal light, everything are working fine except for my headlight and crank. So I tried push start it and the engine run. I conclude it was just a normal electrical problem so I decide to go down workshop on Friday.

Today morning, I did the same thing. Try cranking my bike but there was no respone (no sound) at all so I push start, engine started and make my way to work. Riding halfway I realised my speedometer panel, signal lights and brake lights were not working.

Anybody here encounter this problem before? Need help from you guys here. Thanks!!

tt was what i just said earlier. i got exactly the same prob. first i had to change my starter coil which costs $80. then 1 wk later same prob. this time was just a fuse blown. then i had to change my starter switch for $55. 2 wks later again happened. the wiring got abit problem so aft my mech fixed for me everything fine up till now. if ur living east area i suggest u go fix it at unique motors near paya lebar singpost. they do a great job.

I can understand ur situation. It took me 2yrs plus to put a stop to all my CBR prob. When i first got my bike 3yrs ago, i remembered i had to push start my bike every morning, so i have to parked my bike at a higher floor of the multi storey carpark, then use the ramp to help me. So i sent it for repair. Changed batt, rectifier, all the fuses and even charging coil. Then install grounding wire, voltage stabliser. For tt, it lasted 1yr plus b4 another prob surfaced, the wiring attached to the rectifier got burnt and my bike was being under charged once again.:giddy:

Then i push it to bike shop and had all the wires reconnect back by cutting and rejoining, use black tape cover back nicely but the prob came back aft a few mth. Finally on Oct'07, i am really tired of all the electrical prob, i sent my bike for a major repair. Overhual the engine, change pistons & piston rings and a brand new set of wiring. Finally, all my electrical prob are finally solved.:p

By posting down here, i am not trying to show off how much i have done to my bike but is to let our fellow babybladers know abt our bike prob. I didn't do all the repairs overnight becoz i am still schooling. So i save, work part time, earn the extra cash to slowly touch up on my bike and it took me 3yrs to put a stop to all my bike prob. I always start from the cheapest alternative first, like for eg: no headlight, bike can't start=> i will look for whether the fuse had fused or not. If not, then i will start with 2nd cheapest alternative, could it be the switch? :cheeky:

From my experience i encounter on repairing my bike, most workshops will ask me to change this change that becoz they feel tt those are the roots to the prob. But when i heed their advice and changed accordingly and the prob still not solved, the mechanics will put the blame on my bike saying it is so old liao, tt's y change new parts still will have prob. Or the worst part, i change the parts already, then they say mayb is another part spoilt, tt's y the prob is still there. When i question them: Do you know which part spoilt so i just have to change tt part and solve the prob once and for all? Then the same story goes: CBR 400 is an old bike, sure got a lot of part wear and tear. So very hard to determine which part spoil. I heard enough of all these nonsense so i decided to have a 1x gd time repair on my bike and from then onward, i live happily ever after with my bike with no prob until now. (touch wood)

On the road, i will make sure u can't see my rear light...

Coz like that then i can blind you with my HID front light from your back...

I spent nearly up to 2 thousand dollars on my bike. Did it at HKL. Overhaul includes the changing of pistons & rings, water pump, rewiring, touching up some minor paint works, change the bracket holding on to the side mirror, valve clearance, and the gasket near to the front spocket becoz it has engine oil leaking from there.

Nevertheless, nvr regret spending tt money on my beloved bike. Coz i am planning to bring her to a long journey aft my final exams. :cheeky: So right now is best i do her up nicely b4 she throw tantrums again. Haha.

$2000 is quite reasonable. I haven't changed the pistons or piston rings, and I already spent much more than that on my CBR. It is an old bike, no doubt about that, but with enough time and effort (and money) it can be made into a great bike. The idea is to fix everything as soon as possible, because one broken part can hurt other parts, including those that you replaced.

Many people complain about how CBR is unreliable, breaks down often, expensive to maintain, etc. That is an unfair stereotype. The CBR is actually a very good bike when fully restored. The problem is, the "average" CBR you see on the street is at most 60%-70% of its original performance and reliability. That is why the reputation is not good.

To put it in perspective, especially against the prospect of upgrading to 600cc or 1000cc: How many of you have actually full-throttled your CBR out of a corner (e.g. on track)? If you haven't, you have not fully experienced your bike, and have not fully realized the value of your $4000+. And if you upgrade to a 600cc or 1000cc, do you think you have the skill and guts to handle that power, or would you be at less than half throttle most of the time?

Cheers to CBR. A wonderful training machine for better sports riders.
