Hey dudes, not sure if this is entirely true for Apple products.

But there is such a thing as planned obsolescence for consumer products since after WWI (I think). The idea is to make a biological clock in pdts, so consumers have to buy replacements after a certain time. This was initially meant to spur buying after WWI.

 

For Apple?

- My ipod spoilt overnight after 1.5yrs.

- My gf's ipod spoilt overnight 2 wks before mine did. we bought at the same time too.

- 1 of my sis' macbook spoilt after 1yr.

- My gf's macbook spoilt after 1.5yrs.

 

But of course I am not accusing Apple of planned obsolescence. Macs are more for graphic/animation designers' use. Of course, there are older macbook models that have lasted for as long as 5 yrs. I wonder if it has got something to do with newer models? Just speculation.

 

I am just stating all the Apple pdt experiences that I have had. Albeit, short ones.

Yeah.. I would recommend getting apple care protection. Macs seem likely to spoil after the 1yr warranty period. But for my gf's case, already after 1 year.. so too late to get.

Well, Apple does have its downsides sometimes. And having worked at a store before, I can tell you the usual failures sometimes account to these questions:

 

1. Whether the engineers considered to carefully ensure that the materials, insulation, and circuitry are durable.

 

2. Whether the engineers have pieced the parts together and carefully (as opposed to haphazardly throwing things in and closing the panels properly)

 

3. The factory to where it was produced and its standards.

 

I remembered when the very first MacBooks came out...lots of customers hoarded our store daily because of the same problem. After half a month of worldwide recalls of the same product, Apple finally directed us engineers to change and to do something with the circuitry and the components inside our customers' MacBooks to resolve the issue. And the problem went away gradually.

Sorry, I can't disclose to ya guys what we did to the first generation MacBooks. Confidentiality agreement and pride in the products that we used to deal with are the reasons why.

 

Truth is, given time over a new product, the kinks will soon be ironed out.

Yeah alot of things can't seem to run well with Wine, even tryin to play a very minimum graphic game it kinda bugs up. So i guess the best to go is to dual OS
