Hi. I'm asking for guys around this age group cause you're in the same generation as I am. When we were little, there used to be a toy car, I forgot by what brand, but its the type when you put inside hot water is one color scheme, you roll it down to cold water the car color scheme CHANGES like magic!!

I want to google it but I don't even know where to start! Firstly, for those in the know, what is the science behind it? Secondly, what's the brand of those toys and are they still available in the market? I think this science behind it has quite some good applications, can put on our bike!

Hopefully there are some of you out there that still remembers this toy? I think I was like 9 or 10 when I had it!

I believe it was called Hotwheels Automagic.

As a kid I found it amusing. I got a Lambo Countach that could change from white at room temp, to purple under cold water.

You'll need thermochromic paint.

This is what they used for the Automagic toys.

Interesting! I wonder how much it costs to be painted on bikes.

Expensive! Click on the buy button. U'll see that the 8oz kit, enough for bikes go for USD 750.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermochromism

A simple explanation from Wiki:

Thermochromic paint is a relatively recent development in the area of color-changing pigments. It involves the use of liquid crystal or leuco dye technology. After absorbing a certain amount of light or heat, the crystallic or molecular structure of the pigment reversibly changes in such a way that it absorbs and emits light at a different wavelength than at lower temperatures. Thermochromic paints are seen quite often as a coating on coffee mugs, whereby once hot coffee is poured into the mugs, the thermochromic paint absorbs the heat and becomes colored or transparent, therefore changing the appearance of the mug.

Read more abt Leuco dyes on the site itself, or Google it. :goodluck:
