Did some search on the net and found out all post 06 models are made in China. And hence the cheaper price. It has the same engine as the Vespa LX150. Wonder if it's still the same for the 09?

Appreciate any feedback on the Fly.

Cheers!

Well, What is new? everything is make in China nowadays

My opinion of the FLY 150 is that it should be the bread and butter for piaggio.

Vespa are icon models. More for image and tradition. Gileras are racing breed.

This Fly 150 have longer wheelbase than LX150. Thus chances is that it will be more stable at corner and less twitchy. Pherhaps to put it, more forgiving for newbies rider.Engine parts are exactly like LX150. So no worries about the parts and tech expertises.

The fly 150 is ideal as a transport autoscoot if anyone wants a autoscoot for transport purposes. Think of it as the old ST150 4stroke skipper.

With a box, it won't look out of place. aircool engine, less coolant to worry about. Flat floorboard.

Think Ah pek will like it too.

If only It's still made in Italy and uses EFI. It will be perfect. But too bad it's not

hehe comet bro...

you have said almost all that I need to say.

But to add it up, i have ridden this particular scooter for the past few weeks to and fro work...

Exactly like comet bro dipict, it rides so much better then LX150 as the wheelbase is longer and the tyres are fatter. The cornering stability is one of the best scooter in this class I have tried.

In fact, this scooter has so much simplicity which i love comparing to others which are always trying to be tech savvy and ended up with alot of problems.

to put it simply: cheap and good.

oh, one thing and the only thing i hate, is the mirrors...they are too wide for me to go in between cars swiftly. Would get a pair of aftermarket once I get my own Fly. hehe, yes, i m planning to get...too cheap n good to resist.

Piaggio is now discussing the shipment of the original 33litre matching colour top box. Price is comforting, rumoured to be less then $200 sing.

How about 45litres top box? can the rack withstand the weight? I saw this scooter last weekend too. A bit small for mine, but on the hand the price is quite attractive. hehe

I'm not sure if this make sense. Most of my friends who rides scooters of this size. We find that most of the time 32 liter is the max. Anything higher, u will have handling issue. Like wobbly hander bars during cornering or slow speed.

Some friends manage to solve that problem by putting most of the common heavy load like rain coat, tools, barang-barang under the seat. 45liters box for helmet only. Plus adding fork brace and heavier handle bar end weights.

My personal observation for box on this kind of bike size. 32liters is actually the max recommended. For stability and handling.

I have tried a 28 liters and 32 liters givi box before.

I discover that, the more storage space u have, the more junk you will put.

2 helmet One can be under seat and on in box, and u still can squeeze in 2 raincoats and some tools plus parking coupons.

I ever tried from E33 to E16 to no box.

Box size dwongrade is alright as I can still put one helmet and raincoat behind. Another helmet can o under seat.

But no box, it is abit troublesome.

Besides, If you put a 45liter box. I do beleive it look abit too big visually.

thanks for the input everyone. all good info and definitely ascertain my decision to get one!

it'll be good that they can keep the price of the Piaggio top case below $200. i hope the price includes rack.

good point...I just found out and confirmed with Piaggio that the price would be at $180ish, including bracket. Top box is also matching colours.

For the size of the original top box, its 35litres. I do not see a problem mounting a 46litre top box on it...as the 150cc has very good power-to-weight ratio on the small body of the Fly. To even optimise the stability, we could add a heavy balancer to the bike, i am sure it will make a diff.

Thanks Brembo! Did Piaggio mention when the top case will be in?

Piaggio has submitted the orders, as the top boxes are fast moving in Europe and this is Singapore's 1st order, so they do not have ex-stock for the orders, have to manufacture from scratch, will take 2 months est, to reach us.

What matters most is the OTR price. Just get the dealer you communicated to break it down (as transparent as you can get him to be). I believe OTR should not exceed $5500 (with 3rd party insurance)

hey guys,got some questions...

1.what is the fuel consumption like for the fly..?

Personally tried. 33.33km per litre

2.does it comes in different colour than silver...?

Tekken answered your question. See below

3.what is the top speed..?

I personally tried 115kph

4.is there any cons of this bike?

I do not like the side mirrors, they are too wide.

There is no side stand, which can be inconvenience sometimes. but proven sidestand on LX can be used on the Fly. No readily topbox as yet but coming soon.

All the piaggio bikes uses the same family of engine.

LX150, ET8, Fly 150 uses aircooled 150 leader engine.

Runner 200, x9-180/200, liberty, Sportscity uses almost similar engine.

So the engine are basically te same. IF it's engine parts you are talking about.U can find it everywhere.

However, if you are talking about body parts, and anything external. Then simple. The more common, the easier availability. Prices will be fixed.

Since liberty owners are pretty rare on the streets, do not be surprised there no stick for certain parts and have to order.

150cc vs 200cc. Again. pretty straight forward. 150 will consume lower fuel when compare to 200cc (common sense) Runner 200cc at 124KG mileage is average 24km/l depends on how you ride. LX150, 118kg, mileage is 32km/l.

Normal manual bike may consume lesser fuel than auto. But how much lesser?

My 150 autoscoot. depends on my usage. I pump once every 4 days. everytime is $10 and have a aproximate range of 200Km. I don't need to pump more than twice a week as Im not doing dispatch. SO WHAT is $30 buck vs 20 bucks a week?

Autoscoot, the main idea of it is convenience. just twist and go. The next advantage is storage. 1 helmet underseat, put box also don't look out of place.

hey scooter bros.....

am in a dilemma, someone pls tell me... GTS300 or FLY150?

cant sleep, cant eat and cant decide!!!

Bro, like I said, GTS is a premium model, like you are getting a open-top beetle or a mini cooper clubman...People admired at you all the time, but if you pay the premium price for it.

If you are commuting. Get the fly, serve more purposes then enough! ;)

thanks brembo,

ya lor i agree with you, but sometimes there's just this 'feeling' inside you that's trying to make you get the better one, even though you may not need it.

a good example is this case, i always like the GTS, but ever since that day sat on your FLY (sounds kinky right...), my focus changes... thus now faced with the dilemma.

The GTS is purely a luxury, and my need is purely for transportation. Maybe because its my lack of confidence of smaller CCs scooter, not sure they can endure my everyday commuting from east to west and back.

but luckily straighten out liao, i've booked the FLY, should be getting next week!!!!!!

By the way, pls let me know when the top case comes.

thanks
