Shouldn't HID headlamp to be install on bikes?i feel that we are vulnerable on the road especially at night. And we need to stay focus and make sure motorcar users are aware of us.And it would be safer too when travel to malaysia on the NSHW.Original headlamp from our bike is a hazard when travelling on roads where there is total darkness the original headlight beam cannot shines farther than HID,and when high beam is required at such situation,it's much more dangerous to oncoming cars and human walking against our direction, because of the high beam glare. If fitted with HID on low beam,at least we need not use high beam we can see,and opposition can see us too, isn't that a two way deal.Or rather could we appeal to the authority to allow the use of HID on motorcycles? We are small,we need to be seen.We need attention from car users or our awareness and not ignorance.Ride safe.

HID is fine if your bike happen to come with projector headlights, but a normal reflective lens with hid cause an extremely irritating glare, especially to drivers. I've often encountered riders with hid on the road, the increased height compared to car causes so much more glare. The glare makes it difficult to judge how far away the bike is from you, so the chances of a car turning abruptly into your lane is more likely as compared to a less "visible" bike, as you said. So please, unless there's some way you can cancel out the glare such as thru the use of projector headlights, den installing it is not a wise decision.

So it's preferable to use it on a projector headlight. But do you think is there any ways we can question the authority regarding such a matter. And new cars factory fitted with them are legal whereas fitted ourself are illegal. It's kind of double standard. Why not we get the same spec from the car and get it install on our bike?In this way,we will get the same quality as an approved one from LTA.

I think I saw something on the internet about making your motorcycle more visible at night. Not too sure is it here or somewhere else.

Anything that is done to the bike (not stock items) will be deemed to be illegal. They did say that pasting reflective stickers to make it more visible is OK.

Taken from LTA

"Vehicles should only be fitted with factory fitted HID lamps as they are designed to meet internationally recognised standards.

With the increasing trend on the use of HID headlamps, there has been feedback from motorists that such headlamps are brighter and tend to cause glare. In an attempt to reduce the propensity of glare caused by HID headlamps to other road users, some vehicle manufacturers have incorporated an auto-levelling feature, which automatically adjusts the headlamp angle and direction based on road and driving conditions."

LTA website has a page that lists approved mods, mods that require approval, and prohibited mods. Aftermarket HID is listed in the prohibited list. So its best not to fit one if your bike doesn't come with one I think.

what would be the difference between the projector and normal headlight? would the normal one be more scattered?

If a 3000K (yellow) HID light is tilted down to a lower angle so that more light is thrown onto the ground rather than to the front motorist's eyes, will it then be more acceptable? and that the chances of a TP stopping you is much less? any comments/experience - if you have been stopped for having HID, especially the yellow type.

riding in malaysia is terrible with the normal headlights! so inadequate!

A projector headlight will have a focused beam pattern because the light is projected out, a good example is the film projector in a cinema.

If you use a very bright bulb such as HID but using the reflector to throw the light forward, glare will be inevitable, no matter how low you aimed it.

dun noe which @#$%&^ invented the HID lamp in the first place. oredi the blardy car r so bright which is irritating when it shines into your rear mirror and stupid LTA ACTUALLY say its OK?? now TS has to propose to fit it on bikes. Singapore is not like Malaysia where the gahmen cannot even fit lightings on some roads. Normal headlights can shine 300m, what else do you want? 1km or 5km? if trying to protect oneself, forget it. Changing the law for heavier punishment for stupid drivers is a better bet then having a more dazzling headlights. Wait they say, i bang into that poor motorcycle cos its headlights blinded me.

we r oredi having light pollution problem, please save the environment b4 1 day all of us cannot see anything on the road.
