Sorry geng. Demam ler. Datang aku punye off aje sakit. anyways dalam keadaan demam hang pergi test interview kat changi. Lepas tu, palan kayuh gi ubi tukar kat Planet Motorcycle. Tukar tayar depan belakang, dan brake pad sekali. Shinko Advance 005 Front and Back + SBS front brakes. Total damage, $300. order standard mirror, radiator guard. bulan depan, god willing, dah sampai ler.

 

Tengok helmet kar motorworld. Kurang puas hati, banyak helmet tak bagi chance untuk orang yg pakai cermin mata.

Well. My bike does seem to be a lemon. Despite the top overhaul, it still wont go over 130MPH. I am very disappointed. The only thing i can think of now is the bike has aerodynamic issues, or the EO has expanded. The EO expanded is most unlikely, since I saw the condition of the EO when the mech top overhauled the bike.

 

Second last resort would be to send the bike to Planet and let him have a full rundown of the bike. I'll do that when i am due for a premature EO change sometime next month, as well as to get my standard mirrors and radiator guards installed.

 

The last resort would be something I am not financially prepared for. A full engine rebuild at Hong Leong. I dont think I can trust the mechanics at Southern with this issue.

 

Or it could have been due to a rather stupid cause, that the Meter itself is malfunctioning. In that case, I will have to get another fellow with a big engine to tail me, and tell me my actual top speed. Or I could tape down my phone to the tank, and turn on the GPS tracking function. I'll try both next week.

Dah set balek. First bawak, motor goyang rabak. Dapat tahu tayar depan over inflate sampai 280kpa, beb. Rendahkan sampai 220. Test, stable, tapi terperanjat boboi bile moto report top speed 120MPH. Camtu lagi rabak, beb.

Got back from the GPS assisted test run. GPS agrees with the meter. Reports a top speed of 193KPH. Which translates to 130MPH.

 

This has me wondering just what is wrong with the bike. count my loss and send the bike back to the shop for an overtrade, or try to salvage?

Do take into consideration there could be many many factors that cud cause a loss of power. I mean, brand new the FZS 1000 can top 160mph and 143bhp. Unless it was in pristine condition you could expect power loss after 6 years just due to general wear and tear. Before you dump more money into it just think about it a while.

 

Off the top of my head, power loss could be due to many things from the simple to the complicated -

 

Have you checked your throttle assembly, cables, clutch assembly?

Have you checked your drive train and tires? Sprocket size, chain, bearings, wheels, etc

Have you checked your carbs and fuel system? Needles, floats, timing, air/fuel ratio, fuel pump, fuel tank for water and debris, dynojet installed?

Have you checked your plugs and electricals? plugs firing good or rich/lean? enuff power to plugs? enuff charging to batt? coil ok?

Have you checked your vavles, timing etc?

 

after this it gets complicated and usually means an engine teardown.. where you'd look at ur cyclinders, pistons, gaskets, seals.. I know you send to the mech for some of these but do you know what you are looking at or are you just listening to the mech? If ur just listening, try to find a more trusted mech ( few and hard to find ) ... g'luck with dat.

 

How you ride can also play a part, would prefer this to be done on a closed circuit rather than public roads but dats up to you...I'm not a fast rider or want to be one but I do listen to the abg2 racers talk about it...basically near red line each gear before u kick up, if u kick up too early it'll take a while to reach top speed.

 

And lastly..err..don't take this the wrong way bro, but from your requirements about speed and such, mebbe you shud consider a more powerful sports tourer? Or even a 600cc sportsbike? or a full tourer? If top speed is your worry den the fazer mite not be the best bet. It's not the fastest bike around. Most of us are happy to cruise along at 160kmh with short bursts of higher speeds from time to time. Very few of us know what our top speed is or care about it as much as you do..just a thought lar.

 

Jgn salah faham eh? Bukan halau or anything.. just telling you to relax skit and just enjoy ur ride.. dun worry about the top speed so much. It not about arriving there as soon as possible but the journey towards it.
