Do take into consideration there could be many many factors that cud cause a loss of power. I mean, brand new the FZS 1000 can top 160mph and 143bhp. Unless it was in pristine condition you could expect power loss after 6 years just due to general wear and tear. Before you dump more money into it just think about it a while.

 

Off the top of my head, power loss could be due to many things from the simple to the complicated -

 

Have you checked your throttle assembly, cables, clutch assembly?

Have you checked your drive train and tires? Sprocket size, chain, bearings, wheels, etc

done. They are fine.

 

 

Have you checked your carbs and fuel system? Needles, floats, timing, air/fuel ratio, fuel pump, fuel tank for water and debris, dynojet installed?

Have you checked your plugs and electricals? plugs firing good or rich/lean? enuff power to plugs? enuff charging to batt? coil ok?

Have you checked your vavles, timing etc?

after this it gets complicated and usually means an engine teardown.. where you'd look at ur cyclinders, pistons, gaskets, seals.. I know you send to the mech for some of these but do you know what you are looking at or are you just listening to the mech? If ur just listening, try to find a more trusted mech ( few and hard to find ) ... g'luck with dat.

 

How you ride can also play a part, would prefer this to be done on a closed circuit rather than public roads but dats up to you...I'm not a fast rider or want to be one but I do listen to the abg2 racers talk about it...basically near red line each gear before u kick up, if u kick up too early it'll take a while to reach top speed.

 

i switch gears from 1-3 rpm 6k, add 1k for every gear. I switch to gear 6 at rpm 9k, and even than that is slow to reach.

 

And lastly..err..don't take this the wrong way bro, but from your requirements about speed and such, mebbe you shud consider a more powerful sports tourer? Or even a 600cc sportsbike? or a full tourer? If top speed is your worry den the fazer mite not be the best bet. It's not the fastest bike around. Most of us are happy to cruise along at 160kmh with short bursts of higher speeds from time to time. Very few of us know what our top speed is or care about it as much as you do..just a thought lar.

 

no, i thinks its you guys who dont understand. I want to hit 250kmh ONCE, before i am confident enough to use this bike for the next 4 years or 14.

i am not a boy racer. I want a bike i can trust for the next few years in my mortal plane. Why should i pay a hire purchase for a crippled bike?

I know. Which is why i standby 2k for repairs and parts. That ceiling not hit yet, but i am confused as to what needs to be done to make it alright again. The problem is, i have very few leads left to go after in the hopes of making the bike acceptable for me. I might not look it, but i do believe that half assed effort is not worth the effort. That much i demand from myself, as well as the things i use.

Enjoy ur lunch. Having home cooked nasi lemak. Mak dah nak merajuk, hang tak pernah makan sarapan setiap pagi.

 

And memang dah beli, tengah nak buat moto ini cukup bagus jadi boleh enjoy. Actually, moto yang hang minat adalah honda cb1000, carb naked bike dengan dua pipe. Tapi dah lama sangat, tak jumpe lagi. Ah well. Itu baru hang boleh cakap, gorgeous.

I may be young, bro, but i do know a thing or two about motorbike mechanics. Maybe not so much on big bikes, but I do know when to switch worn parts, and the tell tale signs on when they are worn. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, however, so I send my bikes to a mechanic when something stumps me.

 

Going to southern to have a discussion of the mechs' plans on how to fix the bike later this afternoon. Hopefully they can think up something satisfactory. Peace.

I didn't mean it dat way bro, jgn salah faham. Just saying sometimes what we think is OK is not the same as the stock set up for the bike. In your case since banyak sangat to consider, try to get the bike back to stock settings then trouble shoot from there...or at least get the original parts manual ( http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx ) so you can compare. Mane tau sprocket size 46 pada ko ok..but stock is 44. -1 in the front and +2 in the rear means faster acceleration off the line, but less top end.

 

Kiter pon bukan expert cume giving you an opinion/point of view/experience sahaje. Up to you if you want to consider or not. it's ultimately your bike and your $$ after-all.

 

BTW, kat southern satu mech je aku percaya, tu pon 60/40 sometimes. Yg lain aku give up after the last time 3 of them took 2hrs to change a FZ1S(gen2) clutch cable.

Thanks. I hope so too. Tomorrow morning, I will be heading to planet motors to get the front brakes adjusted. True that new brakes should allow for some bite, but now it is a tad bit too much. Maybe it ate 5-10 kmh during the test run last night? God knows.
