Shop mentality is "as long as it works, it works"... IMO they don bother about the wiring... just wire it and go.... no housekeeping... If you really want neat you have to do it yourself.

On the other hand... bikeworks might be able to help you... friend of a friend's bike wouldn't start... ah beng insisted that one of the mech trace through all the jumble of wires to find the faulty one and rectify it instead of just adding a wire bypass. And of course, their concept of "neat wiring" is to tape it up with kickass amounts of black tape... :cheeky:

I guess not many shops wanna do rewiring as it's time consuming....

Ur ride is Vara 125?

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

what u can do is to buy the wire harness with all the new connector from honda and replace it.

If any one of you wants to rewire your bike the DIY way, at the very least get the oem wire harness. The wires used in the wire harness is not the usual wires you can buy outside.

So far I have not been able to find any place that sells wires that are as thin as the oem ones and able to carry as much current as the oem ones at the same time.

My guess is oem wires use at least gxl, txl or even sxl grade wires because on a bike space is limited.

If anyone knows where we can by those automotive grade wires please let us know.

Typically automotive grade cables are of low grade. You want really good cables which are thin, multi-core, extreme heat resistance, and very flexible, get those cable with silicon jacket, typically used in the military, especially in big guns.

SXL Grade automotive wires belongs to those thin, multi-core, heat resistance and flexible cable that you mention, though not extreme heat resistant, it is able to withstand up to 125 degree C.

In the usual application sxl grade is considered very good, but I don't think it is available locally, at least to the end users. Even workshops only use those general application type which withstands heat to only 80 degree C.

I got my wires from Chop Hock Hong at King George's Ave, a 30m wire that can take up to 21 amps cost $25 and a 30m wire that takes up to 6 amps cost $5.50. They differentiate their wires by number of cores, not the usual awg, so have to tell them how much amps you want the wires to take so that they can find the wire thickness for you from their systems. Those are the normal grades for general automotive application, not those slim and good quality ones, but they are better than those household wires.

You can definitely get any type of cable in Singapore.

Try Raychem, they now come under Tyco Electronics, but for certain cables they have minimum order quantity.

If you know some of the SME system integrators that support the local defence industry, they have such cables and can form to your specific specs.
