How long can a claim last.

Lets say u're involved in an accident 1 or 2 yrs ago and u haven made repairs claiming on the other parties insurance due to bizi or no time.

Its the other parties fault btw.

Is there any time limit given??

Did you report the case to your insurer? How about any police report? Or any B&W? Without any of the above, very difficult to proof. Stories changes overtime. That is the reason for reporting anc claiming ASAP.

 

You can try to ask lawyer on your chances.

Read the policy wordings. Most will tell you that you have to inform them within 30 days. the 6 and 3 yrs rule is applicable only for claim from personnel. Insurers = within 30days. There's no reason to be so busy till you can't claim within 30days. You can always authorize someone to do it for you. If you need more help or explanation, free to PM me.

Wrong. The insurance contract is between the insured and the insurer. A third party claimant is generally not bound by policy notification terms which he is not a party to - that is why he is a "third party" in a claim where the policy provides cover for bodily injury and property damage to third parties.

Even if a policy's notification clause requires some action by the policyholder, time does not start until the claimant makes the claim and notifies the policyholder - simply because he won't know a claim has been made against him until it has been made!

 

When it comes to important matters involving others' monies and rights, it would only be decent to have a high degree of confidence in what you're stating, so as not to mislead others who may rely on you to their detriment.

This is the correct statement of the general position in Singapore law.

thnx for the info,on the day of the accident,i've made a report at IDAC.No police report made as there's no bodily injuries.I'll try to enquire from IDAC abt this issue.thnx all.
