To extend, pay the "Prevailing Quota Premium".

Just means whatever price the COE is for new bikes during the current month, you need to pay the same.

You can cross your fingers plus toes and/or any other bodily appendages and pray for PQP lower than $200 before Sep 09, but i highly doubt it will happen.

Yeah man, those were the days when COE is drivers' problem.

Now, unless the ecomony suddenly takes a healthy dose of chemical entertainment and get boosted till every mother's sons can afford to drive... then may be, only may be, the bike COE will drop to a couple of hundreds.

I did a renew of COE before . Its a 3 month average for 10years and 1/2 price of that average for 5 years. No such thing as cheap COE.

THIS IS RENEW AND NOT NEW BIDDING.

What this means is that for example, May = $1000, June = $800, July = 900, so the renewed COE price is 1000+800+900 = 2700 /3 = $900.

Bidding for new COE is different.

To answer you question, you will need to stop people from buying new bikes for 3 months. Then Motorcycle COE price will drop. Thus cheap COE when you renew.

Not satisfied, taken from OneMotoring.

"The PQP is the moving average of the COE prices in the last 3 months.

If the application for renewal of COE is made in the month of the COE expiry or after the COE expiry date (within the 1-month grace period with payment of late fees), the PQP rate for the month of COE expiry shall be payable. Upon renewal, the new COE will commence on the next day after the current COE expiry date. If the COE renewal is made prior to the current COE expiry month, the PQP payable shall be the rate applicable at the point of the renewal of the COE. Upon renewal, the new COE will commence from the 1st of the following month from the PQP month and the balance of the current COE will be forfeited.

The 5-year COE is non-renewable, which means you must de-register the vehicle upon the expiry of the 5-year COE."

yeah this is what i know as well.. so if you want cheap COE like $200, you need to wait long long.. wait long maybe also dun have.. cos for eg aug09 motocycle COE is $200.. i am quite sure there will be a surge in the number of purchase for sep09 which will bring the COE to a much higher value again.

Actually there is still a chance. For example. If June = $400, July = $300, August = $500. This makes a total of $1200. Then we divide by 3 which makes it to 1200 / 3 = $400.

Now here is the trick....renew 5 years lor....half the amount $200. The downside can only keep the bike for 5 years and scrap at the end of the deal.

Well, the problem is:

QP for May 2009: $902 $810

QP for Jun 2009: $889 $901

QP for Jul 2009: $900 $889

The Quota Premium (QP) & Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP) for the past few mths has been hovering around $900. So let's say by some fluke, Aug COE QP is $1, the PQP for Sep (TS COE expiry mth) will still work out to some $600... :pity:

Just renewed @ $908. Go LTA, Onemotoring or ask Bikeshop to help.
