Man Utd boss Ferguson in new bust-up with Carrick

There are reports of a new row between Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and midfielder Michael Carrick.

The Manchester Evening News says the alleged Carrick fall-out surfaced on fans' forums on the web and followed a quote attributed to Sir Alex when Carrick was omitted from the 18 on duty for the league opener against Birmingham.

"There's no injury to Michael Carrick. You'll have to ask him why he's out," Ferguson was said to have told a TV station.

It followed a supposed verbal spat between Carrick and the manager at the Community Shield against Chelsea.

The 28-year-old has won the Premier League title in every one of his three seasons as a United player since he moved from Spurs for around £18m in the summer of 2006.

But the speculation over a bust-up has also sparked talk of a return to White Hart Lane for the England midfielder in a swap deal - plus £10m for Spurs - that would bring Luka Modric to Old Trafford.

Man Utd seek £15M deal for Real Madrid's Robben

Manchester United are planning a shock bid for Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben.

The Sun says United have been quoted £26million but the Red Devils plan to force the price down this weekend.

Old Trafford chiefs will begin the process with a bid of around £11m - but an offer of £15m may be enough to bag the winger.

Robben, 26, is seen as the creative spark which can help fill the void left by £80m Cristiano Ronaldo.

He came close to signing for Alex Ferguson's men from PSV Eindhoven in 2004 when he visited United's training ground.

But he opted for a £12m move to Chelsea.

Man Utd management split over Anderson future

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to hand Anderson a shock start for this weekend's clash with Arsenal.

The Times says Ferguson will consider giving Anderson a starting role in the eagerly awaited tussle with Arsenal on Saturday evening, but the player’s long-term future at Manchester United is in doubt after a row with his manager on the training ground.

Ferguson and Anderson were involved in an angry disagreement after the Brazil midfield player was told that he would not start the Community Shield match against Chelsea on August 9, having shown a casual approach in training.

The matter was kept in-house for a fortnight, but witnesses have now reluctantly confirmed that Anderson, having expressed fury at his omission in front of his team-mates, threatened to find a new club and that Ferguson, appalled by the player’s attitude, said that he was prepared to sell him.

One source said that the matter is “over” and that Anderson is in Ferguson’s plans to start the game against Arsenal, but another suggested that the lingering tension between manager and player raises doubts about the 21-year-old’s long-term future at United.

Anderson: I want to fight for my place

Brazilian Anderson been told to work harder in training by Sir Alex Ferguson, but the United midfielder has stressed that he wants to stay and fight for his first-team place.

The 21-year-old has only started one game this season - the defeat to Burnley last week - and clashed verbally with Ferguson after being left out of the team for the Community Shield against Chelsea at Wembley.

It is understood that Ferguson had not been enthused about Anderson's pre-season training, something he has vowed to put right.

He told Sportsmail: ‘I believed that I would play in the Community Shield but that is forgotten now.

I thought that, without Cristiano Ronaldo around, I would play more and that has been my challenge from pre-season onwards.

But the coach decides the teams and to discuss this with him is foolish because he is the chief. I do not want to leave United.

No. Sir Alex Ferguson has demanded a bigger effort from me and I accept that. Because to get in to this United team is very complicated and difficult for any player."

Anderson denies that he wants to quit United

Anderson has denied he wants to quit Manchester United but admitted he is frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities so far this season.

The Brazilian midfielder's only start came in last week's defeat by Burnley - in an unfamiliar left-wing position - and he is reported to have clashed with boss Sir Alex Ferguson after being left out of the team for the Community Shield meeting with Chelsea earlier this month.

Anderson told the Daily Mail: "I believed that I would play in the Community Shield but that is forgotten now.

"I thought that, without Cristiano Ronaldo around, I could to play more and that has been my challenge from pre-season onwards.

"But the coach decides the teams and to discuss this with him is foolish because he is the chief. I do not want to leave United. No.

No denying what you said. But will he or more importantly CAN he fit into the Red Devils's playing system?

yeah and if he does not fit into the system, then it would be a waste of money and it looks like anderson might be leaving too.

hmm... yeah u muz be right. if Fergie gambles than will be another flop. :faint: but he was a bit less scholes replica somewhat.

hmm...these players..angry for not being in the first 11..shud make them sit on the couch and ask them to watch how they play lah..not good or cant fit in the team's tactic means no first 11 lor..personally, i dislike fletcher in the beginning..but now, id be dissappointed if he is not in the starting line up cuz he has changed and been a vital first team player for united...i prefer him and scholes in the mid rather than carrick or anderson...:) btw..Man united has got a very tricky draw..CSKA will be a difficult team to beat at their home grown, Wolfsburg are a decent team too..besiktas...lets hope man united can get all 6 points from them...

The problem with the champion league game is that Man United has to travel far this time. Hope is will not affected the player fatigue.

then it will be a test of whether the current united reserves/youngsters can prove it on the big stage.. we have always been known to have the biggest squad.. now's the time to prove it

yeah it is time to prove that united has a big squad. and also they have a tendency to have injury problems during the winter time. it will give a chance for some youngsters to establish themselves.

At 95min... my heart almost stopped.

Lucky this Gallas was offside.

Then again, Berba and Nani could have done better with their shoots in the last few minutes.

nani - his missed shot wasnt that bad.. his first shot was nicely saved.. shows that he needs to improve on his reaction..

berbatov was bad .. a striker of his calibre cant miss such chances .. 30 mil ++ .. damn .. this wasnt the berbatov at tottenham ..

Nani took damn long to line up his first shot yet its so easily save by their keeper .. i expect at least top corner lor ..

Really bad performance .. Nevertheless its a good result .. haha .. Lucky us ..
