hey can i ask u guys if G4 parts are easy to find in SG? and are they cheap? like if i wanna overhaul an engine and all how much roughly will it cost?
have you got the bike? if yes, just go down guanhoe check with the boss. dont think riders here know exact price. my guess $600 should be more than enough @ GH. my advice, get your butt off that chair & go now.....

i havent buy a bike yet. but thinking seriously of getting one. trying to find one to buy. hard to find sia. so Guan Hoe is a good shop for G4? somemore still need sell my old bike off. its such a chore man.

thought recently some1 say want to sell below 1k?? get it from him, go GH to overhaul, total cost less than 1.8k. GH is suzuki workshop. 1 bro just go, think should be satisfied with boss's work. dont trust other worshop, they like to bullsh1t. cbr & g4 is diff. they service cbr more.

ya. that guy say cannot get special deal anymore. =( only have to buy it at shop price. althought havent go the shop to see yet. hopefully cna get 1 with a few years of COE so dont have to rush to buy COE. need some time to save some $$$

whats shop price? think like that not worth it la. better see garage sale have or not. seriously speaking, if you are looking for cheap price, good engine, new parts on a g4. very hard la. cheap = 80% not excellent condition. expensive = 50% not excellent.

i suggest you make up your mind on the budget 1st. then try to find of cause cheap then you'll have balance cash to do it up. if your 100% of your budget = sale price. you very fast will up lorry. most important is the carbs, just go GH do it up, thats all. or come find me, i see see. lolx. then start saving $ for valve clearance. must check with seller whether he did valve clearance anot.

NO, YOU ARE WRONG. its @ kaki bukit autobay, suzuki workshop. its called guan hoe malaya. searched my posts, i've posted before. there's only 1 in singapore. the rest is not. Edited by ben2306

$2.7k abit too high, bro. i dont know la, never try bike before. if not urgent, maybe next weekend, i go with you if i'm free. if i'm free, no promise. try look for lower price.

what is a valve clearance??
is to check on the 16valves. its actually to be done once in a very long while. i will still suggest going to GH as they might know the factory setting + warranty. other shop, if they do wrongly, engine piang, your business. its almost consider a overhaul.

ok, if i do get that bike. i would bring it there to do everything. haha. BTW cause it solves alot of work. i would be trading my old bike with him. then i just top up 700 bucks. but i not sure i scared the bike have alot of probs. the most surprising thing is that he is in the exact same camp as me.

erm ok. before you bring to gh, maybe come find me, i see x2 1st? @ least we can see whats needed to be repair. anyway, the gh boss shld be ok but @ least you gota know whats wrong before you send for service, right? cos he dont test bike. lolx. since he same camp with you, just ask what he did to bike, anything wrong with it or not la.

This is a good bike with a solid and great-sounding engine, only thing its old, and its got it's own unique problems. If u read overseas forums, u will know that the 2 main parts on this bike that like to give problems are the carburettors and front fork.

 

The carbs basically have rubber seals or O-rings inside that can break down after many years of being soaked in fuel, this allows air to leak inside and screws up the fuel mixture...end result is that the engine runs rough/jerky/no power/spark plugs very fast spoil because too much carbon buildup (thats what happened to me). I suggest that's the first thing you should go and check, if your bike runs rough/jerky or produces a lot of black smoke from exhaust, chances are its a carburetor problem. take note of the symptoms and go to guan hoe at autobay. The boss is mr. ronald. He knows this bike very well and knows exactly what he is doing. he charged me $45 for workmanship. It's not an end-of-the-world kind of problem, carbs do need to be serviced, synchronised and tuned too. if it's not been done for years then of course you can expect this type of issues.

 

The front forks on this bike tend to leak oil also. If you notice greenish black grease/dirt on your front fork legs, chances are its leaking. the seals and bushings inside need to be changed. Mine are already leaking, i will have them serviced soon and update here if anyone's interested.

 

If youre planning to get one, its quite value for money if you get a well-maintained model and is a cheaper alternative to the cbrs, rvf's and s4's out there. Take good care of your bike and she will happily take care of you on the road. lol
