GPR70's compound is softer then BT090. It heats up faster and is much sticker when heated up properly. Hence it is more of a track tyre than road lasting tyre.

A pair of GPR70 will wear out noticely after a few month usage on normal road. But it you heat it up enuff with hard riding, it will reward you with better grip and better handling.

My pair of GPR70 last me for around 8-10 months..before due for a change.

Go for BT090 if you intend to use it longer for example

1 way to maintain you tyre profile is to check you tyre pressure regularly..and corner more to maintain the round profile.

Does any1 has any opinion on changing just the rear tyres only if the front is still usable?

A pair of GPR 70 will set u back $240-$250

hmmm my pair of 090 lasted me 7 months... and my pair of gpr70s lasted me 9 months.. i dunno why u feel that the gpr70s heat up faster... but the 090 actually has a softer carcass and has a lower operating temp than the gpr70... the tyre profile is also kinda diff... the other thing i noticed but the 090 is that after 5 laps at PG, the tyres are kinda fried already...

these are juz my personal thoughts bout tyres... both are sticky tyres but i've been sticking to gpr70s after i've tried it... and oh... both tyres suck in the rain... basically all tyres suck in the rain... in fact it sucks to even ride in the rain lol...

Probably I only changed my tyre just once and the 090 that came with it already hardened. Agree that all tyres sucks in the rain. In this case, it not that tyre that suck....it's the road texture that sucks..That why we can see MotogP guys corner lile nobody's business in the rain..Cos the asphalt or tarmac or what you call it, is so grippy with the tyres..not like normal road..

Hi people!

Has anyone ever encountered this problem while riding in heavy downpour? (i.e engine dies off at low speed or traffic light)

I was riding into JB via 2nd link on Sat and that was the first time that I rode in heavy rain on my GSXR400. Somewhere after I exit to JB, I stopped at a traffic light and my engine just went dead a few times.

My idling is abt 1k rpm normally.

In the end, had to use the choke to start bike, then I rode to a petrol station to take shelter and left the engine to idle for awhile to "heat up" the bike. Did not dare to take any risks, left the petrol station only after the rain became a light drizzle. After that, all was fine.

Question : Any idea what's wrong?!

could it be there's water leaking into the carb?? Use to know of this prob in naked bike, coz the carb is very exposed... but i think gsxr400 also hv a very exposed carb and engine.

I myself also experience it~ it might be either the expose carb...or expose plugs? need to "heat up" until the water really evaporates~ G4 cannot stand wet weathers...like humans~ will shrink!! :cheeky:

From my experience wif my bike is that, probably due to the temp of our bikes.....There is an optimum temp for our bike to work properly....due to the rain, the temp is drastically reduced. I presume the air intake and fuel ratio has something to do with it as well.....since too high a temp n our bikes will shut down as well.... try to keep the bike on throttle when you hear the bike dying out while at the traffic light.....

hmm....next time when you still kana this problem during raining days or after washing bike rite, take a good look at your 4 spark plugs cables under your petrol tank. see any sparks that misfire to any of your engine part like metal or even radiator hoses.

this is what i encounter myself on my own gsxr before also. ride in the rain then into the multi-carpark, i saw my right 1st spark plug cable misfire to the radiator hose. i did a change on all my 4 spark plug cables and now even running during raining day or after washing of bike, its works well and the respone even better.

wish that this do help all of you a bit here and there.

KS Motorcycles open half day only on Saturdays.

I went there last weekend at 5pm and found out. :slapforehead: Then I went to Ah Boy coz I needed an alternator gasket and radiator hoses, but guess what.. Ah Boy oso must buy from KS before selling to customers.

Cheepet... came all the way down from KL and didn't get anything.

My forks oso need rechroming. They have started to wear down in places and it's a matter of time before they start to leak. I'm told that BikeLab does a good job. Any ideas how much & can I get it done while I wait on a Saturday?

Ah Boy quoted fork seals at $50 apiece (the good quality one, he says). Wah, liddat ar?
