Not all models got.

Anyway, mine also dun have remote shock reservoir. But you know what? Even without it, my bike handles sweeeeeeeeeet. So I really dun care whether got that metal canister or not - after all, having that thing doesn't automatically turn you into Rossi in the corners.

For those who are really picky, you can buy an aftermarket Hagon rear shock that comes with that thing. il4 sells them I think. But I dun think it comes cheap.

dunt you feel the stock rear shock is abit too soft?

Dunno, but I think my rear shock is just nice. I weigh 70kg and I find rear preload setting 3 to be just nice and compliant enough for the road. Bumping it up to 4 makes it perfect for the racetrack, although a little bit stiff for the road (but bearable lah). Front, preload with 4 rings showing is pure hell for handling because the front end gets nervous easily. 2.5 or 3 rings showing feels much better and calmer.

btw, is the front shock's Spring replaceable?, or have to change the whole unit?

yah i notice my front tends to be very nervous as well. no confidence at all, except on extremely smooth routes. im using 5 rings showing, abit too high...gonna try reduce to 3 later.

5?? Farkk... that a dead solid front end! Try backing it off to 3 or 3.5 first and see the difference in handling. When I got the bike, it had 10W fork oil so the front end kinda pogo-ed a bit from lack of damping. I dumped that sh!t and got the shop to put in 15W fork oil. Much better.

I don't think fork springs wear out, only the rubber seals and oil become rubbish in time. So you don't have to worry about replacing the spring, unless you're into racing and you want to replace the stock rising rate springs with stiffer single rate ones.

Deathscythe :

As for the preload rings, notice the fork tops on your triple clamp? On each fork top, there's a little knob protruding out. This is the preload adjuster, that lets you compress the fork springs (makes it go harger) or ease off (softer). There are notches on the top so that you can turn it with a spanner, and as you turn the knob it either goes up or down into the fork top. Look at the sides of the knob and you'll see the rings etched on it. As you turn the adjuster, the more rings you see the more the preload (harder), the less rings you see the less the preload (softer).

Posted

got some questions:

10w is lighter or 15w is lighter?

does a lighter weight equate to softer forks?

i just changed the fork oil due to lack of damping.... i noticed the bottle(white color) didnt state any weight. it only states castrol fork oil for motorcycles haha...but it seems ok for my riding style just the preload is set to much.

u can consider getting the k&n air filter if u intend to keep this bike for long. although it is more expensive then stock air filter, it is washable and u do not need to keep changing it every year. so in the long run, u save money

Hi guys, i am going to enrol for my long waiting 2A next month and have been considering on a G4. Have been reading this thread for pass couple of months. Basically, i know about the high rev/ tops speed of this bike mention by a few, the way ZZR-Pilot and a few mention about this bike during cornering (one of the main reasons that attracts me) and also the common probs like the electri parts.

But hows the pick up of the bike compare to other 400s maybe like cbr and rvf? :bounce:

Was also thinking if this bike can last me for maybe 3-4 years b4 finishing NS and afford a class 2.

Anyone here has been riding G4 for years? :?

I love bikes, cars and mei nu!

G4 to me is the best bike...haha...even though quite prob which was encountered by other guys,....so far i dun hav prob witht the bike yet...maybe becos i have ridden it for onli 1 mth plus...but i believe if u noe how to maintain and take care of it...it will be a great bike.... i say that G4 is the best but i actually referring to other factors and not the top speed or pickup....but i mean that i like its handling and seating position personally...for performance wise..it always depends on the rider...becos i have 1 fren riding sp and he can on par with all my frens whu riding diff types of 2a bikes....jus my 2 cents worth

But if i'm not wrong there isn't any k&n filter meant for the g4.....my fren is using one for cbr..... any comments? How much does it cost? but one thing abt using k&n......ur fuel consumption will go up.....so u spend more $$ on petrol thou.....

by the way deathsythe, i'm interested in paying sanfu a visit...been hearing much abt their shop.....wanna pay them a visit to see how things r like there...... Jio me k?

its best if u can try the other 2 yourself, seat on it, ride it if possible. Handling n riding postion wise, i find rvf the suits me the most. for pickup wise, this is very subjective. anyway the reason i got a g4 is i got no money to buy others :weep:.

but ok lah, it hadnt provided me with problems and i learnt alot riding it.

i still find it difficult to ride though hehe. :bounce:

im using one meant for for suzuki kantana. its the same size as e stock g4 air filter except its cone shaped n no modifications is needed.

fuel comsumption wise, it isnt noticeable.

performance wise, it isnt noticeable as well haha. :p

i guess if u wanna realise the perfomance of the air filter, u have to change to a less restrictive end can and change ur jettings accordingly which will then increase ur fuel comsumption.

they can, but have to pay service charge.

and most dun do it the proper way; they wash it the wrong way, dun let it dry naturally, they use compressed air to blow it dry, and they dunt oil it properly as well.

initially i went to shops to get them to wash for me, when i look at them do, immediately i noticed they doing it wrongly as i read the instructions before. i commented but my comment was rebuted, so the next time when its due for a wash i went to another shop. same pattern again..even lagi jialat they use a hot air dryer to dry it. :sian:

the next next time it was due for cleaning, i bought a stubby(a very short screwdriver, as the space to access the filter is very limited after taking out the battery), the K&N filter cleaning kit and did it myself according to the instructions. piece of cake.
