wow, I just chance upon this comment by our friend here. Just need to say this is so not true. Maxima is formulated for bikes, with anti-corrosion additives, effective for all form of corrosion you will find in bikes, including aluminium and exotic metals which are much more reactive and sensitive to corrosion than steel/iron.

'Rust' is corrosion of the element iron in 'iron' or steel parts. In a cooling system submerged with an electrolyte like water, your aluminum and magnesium parts will rot to bits while protecting the iron/steel components, this is because the more reactive aluminium and magnesium become a sacrificial anode. This is a well established electrochemical reaction, same reason why zinc plating protects from rust.

Hence if Maxima Cool-Aide protects the aluminium and other exotic (and reactive) metals, you can rest assured your iron and steel parts will remain RUST FREE. Redline WW states very clearly it does not protect Magnesium in the back label, that you should be aware of and perhaps worry about. Magnesium is hyper reactive and will corrode in preference over aluminium or steel. It is also a very common metal alloys used in impellers, pump covers etc in bikes! Redline makes their stuff chiefly for cars, which do not have so much of these fancy lightweight alloys because cars do not go on alternate year weight reduction programs like modern sportbikes do.

wow... never knew bout that. thanks dude.

Yup, juz went to planet and there's a mech call ah beng who did my bike carb. The difference is there man! WIll be going to jb to pump full tank and see how's the milage.

Luckily float and jet needle still intact! Only replaced the carb dunno wat rubber seals. 4 big and 1 small rubber seals... 5 x $8 each + servicing $80 = $120. Felt the pinch, but compared to the smooth engine feel and fc, guess it's money well spent.

Now one more thing le, after he tested, commented that both my front and rear wheel bearing koyak le! Never do 1st, still can ride as I'm quite tired of waiting for abt 6 hrs for the whole process, i guess? Nevertheless, I will go down there and do up one of these days.

Still, last but not least, damn the fooker who knocked my bike and the stupid bike shop who promised to service the bike before handing over to me.

Gd for you man...ah beng is my fave mech, the skills are there....cos ah chong always busy..run here run there....

Ah King : dun bother trying to fit the s4 filter...doesn't fit.

Shawn : U power sial.....can pust start in 1st gear...usually pple push start in 2nd gear one leh.....

Btw, lobster, doubt its a fuse problem, if fuse blown, you probably wun even see the lights on, what more hear the cranking. Coil n rectifier, i seriously doubt so as well, cos they affect the battery. Since you changed your batt den its shouldn't be the case. Get the bike to your fave mech n get him to check it out. I believe its your carbs...need cleaning n tuning.(or synching whichever works)

Glenn, i doubt its the carbs flooding, since he neva use his bike often.... Last time my bike left there for mths i use the same method to start up for warming up. One thing abt the bike....under-utilisation causes it to fall sick easily.

il4 I won't bother arguing with you, i do agree redline is a good product, but it is no doubt they are not a motorcycle specific manufacturer, unlike Maxima, whose roots are in 2 wheelers. It is a great product, and I highly recommend it for its cooling performance, match by Maxima cool-aide as far as I can tell. Heck, if you insists Redline is better, I'll just concede and make u happy. However, does it not state prominently on the back label it does not protect magnesium?

Magnesium in a cam cover wouldn't be an issue as there isn't contact with coolant, if the water pump housing isn't otherwise sealed then supplemental protection would be necessary.

Thank you Dave, there are bikes that come with Mg alloy pump covers and these are in direct contact with coolant. As the weight cutting continues, and manufacturering improves, Mg will be more and more wisespread.

If Redlines so prominently puts such a disclaimer on every bottle of WW, and USA being a lawsuit ridden country, does it not say something about Redline's understanding of the limitations of this product? I love WW when I was using it, it worked great, bike was new, no problems so far, does that count as an endorsement of WW? However I did not strip my engine to inspect if any of the magnesium bits are affected, but I'm not waiting for something to corrode to failure. I love my bike.

The fact is, I'm a bike enthusiast at heart who wants to introduce stuff that works great to our guys. Cool-Aide makes me peanuts, one bottle selling $17 mix 16L, put 6~8 bikes also can, 1 yr or more change once, somemore most pple run their stock coolant until something breakdown, alamak, die lah, eat grass liao. It is also interesting to note how WW's price has come tumbling from a very steady $25, to $22 to, now, $20, amazing markups :thumb: This won't happen with Cool-Aide, the pricing is reasonable because at ANR Impex, we distribute direct to bike shops to keep the consumer prices down, so please don't assume pay more means paying for better stuff! See how the prices tumble, then you know!

Redline mixes 12L, il4 can claim 18 if you take the maker's absolute UPPER limits to market his stuff, but I won't do that, not at the risk of compromising my fellow bike lover's dear machines, protection is possibly compromise as a bike only has 2~3 litre total coolant capacity, giving it very little total additive quantity. FYI to eveyone, BOTH products are recommended to mix at 1 fl oz per quart on back label, and Cool-aide comes in 16oz versus 12oz for WW.

Go ahead, use WW or Cool-Aide, I don't really care business wise, but I care for your machine which is why I waste my time and $$$ to bring in such a low volume product. Btw, Redline also makes a good oil, few of the oils that's right there on top with Maxima's Ultra in terms of base oil quality. There, il4 another endorsement :thumb:

:giddy:  read half way sian liao...but redline is a gd product...espiecially for old bike like G4.gd for flushing too. :thumb:

Thanks all!

Since u already changed the plugs, do not waste anymore money on them.

plugs do not spoil easily and its even lagi impossible for all 4 to fail at the same time. and i figure tuning wont be so "out" till u have difficulty starting. Its definitely not the fuse, since u can crank. Rectifier, i dunno.

im no mech, but i guess its electrically related. Cdi, pulsar coil is my guess.

a few mechs that are pretty good at troubleshooting the gixxer4:

ah chong from planet motors

ah keong from hkl

ken from pang scooter.

and of cos the authorised workshop guan hoe

great! better than my previous hose whereby ah beng from planet had told me that my brake kit was faultly due to brake sensitivity.

Next! wat's the symptoms of broken steer cone bearings?

I don't speak ill of other products, let everyone be the judge. Just reminding buyers to pay attention to the small prints, recognise the advantages and shortfalls of what they've chosen, realise what they're paying for and question some of the marketing claims. I give credit where credit is deserved. Out.

Edit: Oh i think I know what il4 is driving about Amsoil, seems like my recommendation against 10,000 km drain claims. See what I have to say about my own products and make your conclusion, am I fair or NOT

ANR Impex and il4, be it good or bad, I reckon that both have their plus points. Let's put this discussion behind us and chill up man, like what your own fav coolant does?

Cheers for everyone.

y did u guys get so worked up over this issue. certainly each product has its own plus points.

just wondering, did both of u tested each other's product b4? if yes, den how did u test it? also, how long did u try out? 1 week? 1 month?

No more regrets.

Just wondering wat spark plugs is suitable for our Gsxxer. As my spark plugs that i am using perviously just blow.

Anyway anyone knows how much does a "kang tong" - suspension cost as my bike suspension is spoilt now and it feels like riding a scrambler. My mach told me that if i do not fix the problem i cannot play high speed corner as my suspenion has to much bounce and may result in alose of grip on the ground while there is a slight bounce, therfore resulting in a skid as the rear may give way.

hav u adjust ur kang tong* to limit?so it feel soft n bouncy huh...mayb is the bearings?fyi new suspension is nt cheap loh...at least $400 n above..( i think much more than tat) gd luck*
