Check if your coolant leaked.

*** Do not attempt to change the coolant immediately after a ride. Wait till the bike has completely cooled down before you start.

1) Remove oil tank

2) Remove left side mid fairing ( remove the bottom as well if you are not confident)

3) somewhere below the gearbox there is a pipe with a hex screw on it. remove the screw and coolant will flow out.(or spray out)

4) let the coolant completely drain out before closing the screw.

5) fill the radiator with either water or vinegar (if i remember correctly), close the cap and start the engine to let the liquid cleanse the cooling system.

6) repeat step 3 and 4 as many times as you like.

7) refill radiator with desired coolant and do not cap. start the engine and rev. The coolant level will drop, fill more coolant until lvl does not drop. stop the engine and cap.

8) Clean up the bloody mess that you have made and put back the parts that you have take out.

i would recommend bt014, hard compound on the middle, soft on the side which cater your cornering desire. A pair of 014 cost 280(120 for front, 160 for rear) at hkl a year ago.. =P dunno the price would be same or not currently

Mitosis: Perhaps u can do Like wat Arcfire had mentioned on flushing the radiator.

Engine overheat is not a small biz, so no matter wat must die die must take note of coolant. I ever down the radiator before and blast the waterhose into the radiator, and i tot the coolant was brown bailey initially..

My recommended coolant is Maxima. EO MAXIMA, chain lub MAXIMA... MAMAMA Suggest u share with a few frenz would be practical. *I'm a maxima FAN heh heh *

g4 has seldom hit halfway mark, expressway riding maybe abt 2/5 of halfway mark. City travelling in the noon also won't hit until half maybe, abt abt 3-4/5 to half mark.. Juz take note of your coolant...

WHEN GOT OUTING ??? WHEN WHEN WHEN???? G4 G4

yo guys, been reading abt the tempt probs .. well i had a similar case also and tempt mark went to red line in normal riding conditions.. these were the probs

1) Coolant needs to be flushed, (from green to brown liao)

2) radiator was leaking (initially i juz welds it up and eventually changed a new radiator altogether)

however, other issues may include thermostat prob or fan not working. But like what the others say, first thing is to check whether theres coolant in the first case, coz for all u know, u juz need to top it up.

Anyhow, regarding the g4 outing, i'm ON for it man! saw a list of names and juz waiting for 'activation'!!

Its better to think for a minute than to talk crap for an hour. Better talk crap for an hour than to keep quiet the whole day..

Great those guys who posted your bike temperatures, mind coming down to the bike shop i got my bike from with me on your g4s?

The mothercb mechanic insisted that hitting 80percent of the white zone on the expressway on a rainy day is normal.

That @%&%*&%&%

hitting 80% is too high for comfort

get ur gasket checked could b tat its leakin then the coolant is gettin into ur block

is it that when u trottle up ur temp gauge goes up??? then when u go slow ur temp drop????

if tats the case probably ur gasket is the culprit

If i remember correctly....Your pipe is actually made of 2 sections....its joing in the middle where...your footrest area is....Therfore....your Endcan should haf and extension pipe....that connectes to it...unlike other bikes...where u just need to change the end-can only....I hope u're able to understand my explaination if it is correct....to what i cld remember...Best is to go down to see the actualy thing itself...hehehhe...
